Carry guns

I love everything about the Ruger, except that it is a bit bulky for pocket carry....and pocket carry is what revolvers in this class are all about! The grip is large, and for some reason they put a rather bulbous trigger guard on it. I will be sticking with the ultralight J-frames myself.

I have no doubt that you are correct in your assumption and your statement - but for my purposes this one works very well. I wanted something my wife could shoot that didn't have a lot of felt recoil (.38 Special) and would fit her hand well and one that I could use for CC when hot weather comes around as I normally carry IWB or OWB at 4 o'clock, not in a pocket, and I prefer the more powerful .357 mag. round, but I too don't want to rip my hand off with the recoil of a small lightweight. My point is that the Ruger serves two functions (as would a S&W Mdl. 60 in .357 mag.) but is priced at $418 vs. $499 for the Smith. I think that says something interesting plus the Ruger handles as well - maybe even better, but it weighs in at 17oz. vs. 22.6 oz. for the Smith. When I can have something that performs like my 686 but only weighs in at 1 lb. I'm going to look at it hard.

386NG??? Basically an alloy frame 686. Doesn't weight a pound....but it's still lighter than even a 5 shot Ruger SP101 and just a bit heavier than the steel framed J-birds. Made for you! Product: Model 386 Night Guard

Yes the 386NG is a nice guns and they sure do fill a niche - but I can buy 2 Ruger LCR .357's for the price of 1 386NG - and I'm still 1/2 lb. less weight.

I have a 4566 that is my all time favorite autoloader. I only carry it in the colder months, under a garment.
The 6906 is my preferred carry piece for most of the year. Reliable, small enough to hide, but big enough to feel like you aren't screwed in a gun fight.
In the woods it's a big wheelgun of some type or another.

Some fuzzy math there my friend!

The LCR .357 weights 17.1 oz. Two of them would weigh 34.2 oz. Ruger® LCR® Double-Action Revolver Models

The 386NG weighs a pretty svelte 24.5 oz. Product: Model 386 Night Guard

34.2 oz. minus 24.5 oz. = 9.7 oz. So....your two LCR's are actually more than half a pound HEAVIER....not lighter!

I've carried a a Colt 1991 Commander .45, old Charter Arms Bulldog .44 spl, KelTec P11 9mm, Model 60 .357, Model 638 .38 spl, got rid of them all and now carry, all the time, everywhere, a Smith .380 Bodyguard. What a great, accurate, lightweight, pocket pistol. No ftf or fte.

I'm with Leighton...

Same here!! 3913 and 640ND as my bug. I train with both, and compete with both, even at 52 try to keep that edge sharp!

My daily carry for the past couple of years has been a 908s hybrid with a 910s slide. There's also a 640-1 not far away.

My issued Glock 23 stays at home most of the time when I'm off duty. My primary off-duty gun is a Kahr K40 with my 642 serving as my on-duty BUG and occasional off-duty weapon.

Used my early (1973) charter undercover as a carry gun on and off for the last 24 years - and still do. At 15.5 oz it's the lightest all steel frame snubbie I know. :) Even fully loaded it weights 2 oz less than my empty S&W 36. (and that's quite a bit in this weight class).
