Just picked up a 9mm Shield at a gun show Saturday, and although I've only put 50 rounds of Wally World Federal practice ammo through it, I'm really impressed.

This is my 4th sub-compact in 9mm (the other 3 are gone), and with its great trigger and dimensions that fit my hands well, I'm really impressed!

I've tried quite a few IWB carry methods/holsters, and I've got to say that I'm just about ready for a simple, easy to conceal OWB holster.

Anybody have any special, economical (less than $75) OWB holsters that come to mind?

Thanks.

Spend $5 more and get the best: Raven Concealment Phantom Modular Holster. This will keep your weapon high and tight OWB. Since it is also modular you can get IWB soft loops and carry it IWB as well.

I second this one. It is a good deal for the price. If you are going to do a lot of drawing and re-holstering I may be prone to get one with a reinforced mouth. Otherwise for general carry these are a great buy. Bear in mind they do NOT have a sweat shield up the back side. If you are going OWB with just a shirt as a cover you will be exposing the gun to sweat. That may influence your decision.

I'm cheating some by using a DeSantis IWB holster that I bought for my Glock 27. It really fits my Shield nicely. All I had to do was tighten the tension screw and it holds the Shield nicely. They also make one especially for the Shield but I just can't make myself buy another one when this fits as well as it does. It had set me back $49. Now that it fits 2 guns it has become a better value for me.

Thanks for all your replies.

I have a Crossbreed QuickClip that I originally bought for a 9c, and have used it to carry a SR40c as well.

That IWB holster is about the most comfortable IWB I've used.

I recently bought a Kholster for my model 60 2-1/8", and I just can't seem to get the thing adjusted...probably need to give it some more time, or trim it.

Sitting with the IWB's is what's making them uncomfortable for me.

That's why I'm thinking of going with OWB.

A friend of mine suggested I try a Fobus paddle, and if the setup holds the Shield in-close without printing through the t-shirts I wear in the summers down here, might be worth a try. Anybody here tried Fobus?

Thanks again.

I own 3 Fobus holsters:

Walther P22
M&P FS - which fits the 9FS, .22 and the .40
Shield --- When you look it up, search for Walther PPS

Polos and t-shirts being the standard this time of year (read "HOT in South Georgia") - I carry at 3:30 and even the FS pistols carry with minimum printing.

If you go OWB you need to get something that sits high and tight...like the RCS I referenced above.

Look at the comparison (click to enlarge) RCS on left

FOGHolsters is another high quality holster, but I'm not sure if they make it for the shield (1 week turnaround).

kodiakpb, that RCS looks like it's JB welded in place! What pistol is in that holster in the picture?

And bgs210, could I ask where you purchased the 3 Fobus holsters you have? I've tried Academy and Bass Pro locally, and OpticsPlanet online, and the only thing I've come up with is an Evolution Roto Paddle PPS.

I suppose I could go direct to Fobus, either by phone or online to get the plain Evolution Paddle PPS (I don't know whether the adjustable cant angles are worth the $$). Could you give me your opinions here?

kodiakpb, because of two rotator cuff surgeries on my right (strong side shoulder, any carry position that puts the grip really high is gonna be a bear for me to draw from. So, I don't know what I'm going to look for in my next holster. It'll have to be some kind of compromise, I suppose.

Thanks all.

...That's a Glock

...Understood, just realize that the lower it sits and the further it sticks out, the harder it will be to conceal (if that is the intent of OWB).

Try starting a thread with that holster listed in title. You will get a quicker answer than asking in a two year old thread.

Did you try the Crossbreed Supertuck IWB?

I love Crossbreed holsters. But I found this company that makes holsters just as good for less money. MDJ Store Home Page
Very comfortable.

I see that this is an older post but if you have not bought a holster let me recommend Lobo Leather enhanced pancke. I have one for my shield & it carries close to the body & tight. Picture below the shield is in the upper right.
