I always look forward to cooler weather when I can don a light jacket and carry some of the sidearms that I don't usually get to carry during oppressive summers in the South.

Today was cool enough that I could slip my 4" Model 28-2 Highway Patrolman into a John O'Rourke hand-boned leather holster and cover it with a ski parka outer shell.

It's a good rig. It pulls in really tight and stays flat against me.

Six rounds of Remington R357M1 did not leave me feeling insufficiently armed, not in the least.

So what are y'all toting these days?

My big gun is my 5" 629-1 with my 165 gr. JHP handloads. I carry that one year round, Dave.

When I saw the thread title, I figured you would have that thing stoked with R357M1. ;)

Hi again, flop-shank!

Your "big gun"? Do you carry other options now and again?

Oh, the R357M1 thread you and I ran a couple years ago was a hoot!!!!

Yeah, that thread was unforgetable, bro.

I do carry other guns at times, but carry the big N frame whenever possible. Sometimes I want a little deeper concealment and carry my 4" nickel 586. Very occasionally I still carry a 6" 686. For ultra deep cover, Or when bending over a lot while working in the yard I'll appendix carry a Taurus 605 .357 snub. at work pocket carry is all that works so it's usually a 360 PD, or in shallow pockets a P3AT.

It sounds like a lot of different guns, but almost always it's the 360, or 629. The key is that I always try to carry as much gun as possible and use the same guns.

My carry options are three. The 3913 or 640-1 are fall/winter month carry. The LCP is in the summer. The 640-1 and LCP are carried in a J. W. O'Rourke holster as well.

I can relate to cool weather and carrying my larger guns.

We don't have near enough cool weather here in Texas.

I do not get to carry many of my favorite (large) guns except for a few months of the year.

:)

Thank goodness I no longer have to deal with the brutal heat and humidity of the deep south; here in SW Virginia the temps are a lot more reasonable in the summer! There are things that miss about Alabama but the summer heat isn't one of them. I am able to carry larger revolvers throughout the year unless it is a, well, day like LA (lower Alabama)... Nice rig and I'm sure that M28 is a fine revolver.
