Does anyone reload for the Tokarev 7.62x25 pistol who uses cast lead bullets? While working thru my stash of reloading supplies, I found 200 cast bullets with a .309 diameter with a weight of 110grs. I know that you can use 30 caliber M1 carbine FMJ 110gr bullets for reloads, but what if they are cast lead. I assume you could, given a milder load. If you have experience using cast bullets with the Tokarev please share your thoughts.

There's no reason this wouldn't work well, but do your research on bullet design, weight, alloy, and diameter. If these guns have a .309" or .310" bore, you'll need the largest diameter cast bullet that will allow chambering a loaded round without difficulty. That will probably be .311" to .312" if you expect good accuracy and no bore leading. No need to slug the bore.

You can try the .309" bullets and they may do okay, but larger will almost always be better, maybe much better. Good luck-

I have loaded cast bullets for use in a CZ 52, which is the same caliber as the OP's Tokarev.

Nothing unusual about loading for it. The only problem I had with it was the brass would get flung about 40', and a lot of it would get lost. I didn't use reduced loads.

Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook #3 has data for 30 Mauser (same case, little lighter load) I used the 84 grain RN sized .311" bullet in my C-96 with 6 grain of Unique. 6.8 is the Max load for Mauser. These functioned just fine and grouped about 4 " at 50 yards with the shoulder stock in place.

I can't find any data for bullets that heavy, So I would reduce the charge to 4 gr. and stick with the normal COAL. If that cycles the action I would stop there.
