I need a Castle Nut

Sir, not sure where you are in this country but find an Aviation place with parts for sale. Having worked on Aircraft and Race Cars for most of my life I can tell you that is where to find a castle nut. You will have to provide them a size (diameter and thread count) and I hope you can take the item with you without getting in trouble. Kyle

Not much information to go on here, sir, so I'm not sure if you are referring to a specialized part or if you are simply looking for a certain size of what I know as a "castle nut" (short for "castellated" nut -- the type that has slots cut into one end of the nut so that it can be held in place with a cotter pin. If the second type is what you are looking for, they can be easily obtained from fastener supply or industrial supply houses. As our friend in Alaska has pointed out, they're also available from many auto supply places. They come in standard and metric sizes, and as he said, you will need to provide that information as well as the thread count (threads per inch (t.p.i.) or per millimeter). A machine shop with a thread gauge, or the sales counter at a fastener house, can identify the exact size for you, and I would definitely seek identification since there are some sizes that are really close in standard and metric. Also, be aware that some manufacturers will intentionally design products with bast**d" threads so you have to go back to them only for replacements, because the threads are so oddball that nobody else will have them.
