Cat bathing.............NO

My local Dr. is a good friend of mine and a avid shooter. He is NOT a cat person. I had a idea to give my cat a bath and get her ready for the holidays. I wonder if he will treat my wounds "Pro Bono"?

Giving a cat a regular bath will eliminate allergy symptoms in those of us afflicted/blessed with being allergic to cats.

The first couple of baths are........interesting. After that they generally sit through them with an air of being greatly offended.

Our cat gets a "spray bath". There is a chemical spray that is specifically for cats, you spray it on and then brush the cat. Ours tolerates it pretty well, but I would never try to give her an actual bath in water, I would probably bleed to death from scratch's before it was done.

Claw trimming is an adventure. One of them now tolerates it pretty well, but her brother is definitely not a fan. I've got scars on my hands and wrists from the times I failed "scruffing" him while my wife did the trimming.

Just finding him is a project, as he is an expert at hiding. I'm convinced that in a previous life he was a USMC Scout-Sniper.

1. Dump a capful of laundry detergent in the commode.
2. Insert cat, close lid.
3. Open lid and remove cat after 30 seconds.

Both cat and commode are sparkling clean.

I have bathed a couple of cats in my lifetime. I would never attempt it single-handed, and I won't do it again soon. I don't know what I was thinking the second time, except that I considered myself an old hand.

Even with a spare set of hands, "expect to get cut". In fact, bathing a cat makes about as much sense as fighting with knives.

There has been two threads on how to give a cat a bath, it got me to thinking, go to pet smart and buy one of the wire pet carriers, put in the bed of the truck and run it through the car wash, kill two birds with one stone. Then wait a day or two before letting the cat out.

I was, but the beast survived and bit the hell out of me in the process.

Wear a suit ofArmor. I learned the hard way not to bathe a cat--after gouges,srtches and tee puncture wounds. I tried that with a large cat I had--back in 08--he hated the idea. His mama--Shasta--will actually allow you to bathe her. This cat is one who hates eating meat cept on ocasion--hates drinking milk-or raw eggs.

My brown point Siamese actually liked baths... current flame point, not so much. I was told not to bathe a cat as it would remove protective oils they need.

There is a funny article out there about how to give a cat a pill. Pretty much the same as with a bath.

It works even better if you flush it a couple of times! Just don't be between the cat and the door when you lift the lid!

You just need to give it a longer bath - and wear welders gloves!

klyde, looks serious. Looks like hes been around awhile. We keep ours inside. We live in the sticks, but still close to a road with quite a bit of traffic,I bet you are attached to klyde. We sure are ours, shes about a year and a half.Pound was gonna put her asleep if we didn't take her.

The wife is a master at giving a cat a bath even when they don't want one. If you start when they are kittens it's fairly easy. An adult that has never been bathed is a different story. They get used to it.
