I have never used CBC brass when reloading, i just grabbed a bunch of once fired from a guy at the range. When i was resizing and doing the factory crimp after bullet seating it seems extremely stiff when crimping. I have loaded tons of winchester and federal brass and the crimp barely touches the brass. And yes i did make sure the die was adjusted correctly. Anybody see this before?

What caliber?
I use CBC .38 Special by the thousands and notice no difference from
W-W,Federal or most of the others. Case life is at least equal, crimping is consistent and splits are very, very rare.

I have loaded CBC 38 spl brass and found it to be somewhat harder to size.I have also found that I get better bullet pull and great brass life in the noted caliber.:D

Doh, S&W 40. Sorry, forgot to note that. I have 50 i loaded this morning but did not fire yet. Just trying to see what everybody thought before i get an uh-oh.

I notice no difference. I use nothing but CBC (Magtech) in my 45 Colt loads. I have buckets of it in all calibers. It's great brass.

Different headstamps have different wall thickness. R-P is known for being thin. PMC is known for being thick. Not sure where CBC would fall. IIRC that's Magtech?

1/2 turn (or whatever) on the FCD will feel different for each headstamp. It's why I sort by headstamp. Many say it's not necessary for semiauto pistol brass but IMO there is a difference.

Most of my brass is range pick-up cases, and the one headstamp I've learned to toss straight out is CBC. Far too many split mouths to waste my time with. I've never had an consistant issues with any other headstamp.

I've found a lot of 38 CBC brass have rims too big, won't fit in my shellholder.
Also a lot of 44 Mag CBC brass after crimping, the bullets are still loose as compared to other makes in my die. I guess the brass is thin?

Since i noticed i have been sorting by headstamp, Its insane the difference between the brands of brass. Some of the brass even weighs differently. Thanks for all the feedback

CBC seems inconsistent - rim size varies, primer pockets not even depth. Have seen case mouth not concentric, as if it were formed from a brass pellet too small. Commercial equipment (Case Inspector) will quite often reject them. Same for American - headstamp AMERC. This is just what I've seen, you could get a good batch with no problems

I'm amazed. Agree 100% that AMERC is junk. But, my experience shows CBC to be one of the best headstamps out there. I have a 500 round lot of it I use exclusively in my 625. Perfect. And I've a goodly number in my general use bucket that has been reloaded countless times. I've never seen a case that was out of spec unless it was stepped on or otherwise damaged.
