Does anyone have a problem with extraction using Blazer .22 lr while shooting with a Model 17 or 18? I have a pre17 and an 18-4 and I have to tap out the empties with my pocket knife. When I use bulk Federal, they just fall out. I used the Blazer in my Ciener 22 conversion and it extracted fine. It only happens with my revolvers.

Dirty chambers in your revolvers. I shoot mostly Blazer in S&W 17, 617, 41, two Ruger Mk II without any extraction problems and good accuracy.
Give the chambers a couple of strokes with a 22 LR chamber brush or a .24/.25 caliber rifle bore brush. Wipe off the face of the cylinder and extracter with an oily cloth to trap the crud. Your revolver will be good to shoot.

My grandson has a M17-4 and Blazer hangs up in it. Everything else works good. Cleaning the chambers didn't help. I would not shoot Blazers or Thunderbolts if they were given to me. Larry

I shoot lots of CCI Blazer. Inexpensive, accurate, and dependable. But VERY WAXY. That wax makes for more frequent cleaning of chambers in both semi-autos and revolvers.

The various ammo makers buy and use different brass. Some goes back to its normal dimensions better than others. But you can't really even make hard and fast rules by brand. Some may change from year to year of lot # to lot #. You have to try it to find out if you like it.
Back when you could go to stores and buy ammo, I had a battle plan. I would just buy a box of a couple different brands and go shooting. By the end of the first box of 50 you knew if it was dirty or not and if it would create extraction problems. Then you selected the brand that was cleanest, extracted satisfactorily, and was cheap. These days I don't know what to tell you. My past practice was to buy so much ammo everyone thought I was starting a war. I will do that again some day if possible.
