I prefer a clip on, crossdraw when in a shirt. I'm in jacket and tie, daily, for work and use an EPS cruiser, IWB, then.

Aloha,

IF/When Hawaii ever goes Shall Issue, I'm set for life.

I have 2 closets full of Loud Aloha Shirts, some you need sunglasses.....

You can wear baggy tank tops, T-shirts and anything else and Not get a second glance.

Plus, lots of people wear all kids of shorts, including baggy board shorts, anyplace. Otherwise, regular shorts, even tacticool are pretty much normal here.

Given the kind of clothes I've seen locals wear, a full size N frame could be carried and not noticed.

How I do it for what its worth.

In the summer I carry my M&P40c in an IWB holster under an untucked T-shirt one size bigger than I need. in the winter I carry A SW911 under a coat. There is also a J-frame in my left pocket all the time.

curious to see how many people choose to wear a sportcoat or vest all the time in order to carry a larger weapon. Or does this matter?

I find myself wearing a sportcoat most of the time. If I do wear shorts I carry a Keltec P3AT in my pocket. However I would rather carry my 66 or 1911.

Just curious to see. I live in GA so heat is an issue for a good 4 months to 6 months in this decision.

I sometimes wear a photographer's vest. But, then again, I'm also a photographer (retired now). I've worn the vest over a regular sport shirt or a T-shirt in the summer in Louisiana and there's not a huge difference in comfort--you're miserable and drenched in sweat no matter what you wear. You can hide just about anything under that vest.

Normally, wearing a full-cut sport shirt or T-shirt can cover a Glock G30 or G19 in a IWB holster. Shouldn't be a problem covering a full sized 1911.

Banded Polo shirts and a good pancake holster will hide most anything in the summer..

In cooler weather, nobody even looks twice at an ol cowboy in a vest.

I like the 5.11 "Tactical Covert Casual" shirts. They're a little more expensive but, like anything else, you get what you pay for and they're worth it.

I never wear cover garments, and except in very hot weather, untucked shirts.

I usually wear a full sized auto or revolver in a Don Hume 715M IWB underneath a tucked polo shirt. When that's not practical, especially when I know I'll need to disarm, I carry a 2" Model 36 in a home made pocket holster.

I'm getting ready to make myself a tuckable IWB for my Glock 19 to replace one of the Don Humes. If it works, I'll replace the rest.

I find that "Polo" shirts or "Pocket-Ts" cover up full sized CCW guns just fine in our hot humid weather.

Just choose a flat "pancake" style strong side holster that hugs it close to the body...which is another reason I prefer stainless steel guns ;)

Ditto hot dry weather.

I recently bought a 5.11 vest for carry, but very shortly determined it was too heavy, way too many pockets, bulky. Sold it without ever wearing it a full day. I've seen other vests that appear to be more comfortable and lighter weight, I have several fly fishing vests that are very comfortable, but the pockets are not the size or location for non-fishing wear.

Can anyone recommend a vest that is light weight, comfortable, as a "travel" or carry vest?

Depending on what I am carrying and what I am doing...
Currently I am carrying a 1911 compact, either IWB @ 3:30 or pocket carry if I am wearing cargo shorts.
I wear bowling type shirts over tucked T shirts while working, and untucked Ts while off.
For a few months I was carrying a .44 magnum snubby and a .44 special snubby.
Magnum @ 3:30 special was pocket carry.
A lot of carry is mindset and attitude as much as how you dress.

Big +1. I'm not a big guy, yet I walked past three local cop's table in a diner this morning while packing a 5" 629 .44 magnum, Taurus 605 .357 snub and a NAA Black Widow .22 mag snub. They never batted an eye. I was wearing carpenter's jeans and a button down shirt.

Before 5.11 was making their CCW style clothing, I was buying "EXOFFICIO" clothing, its a very casual travel style wear so it's cut roomy.
