I'm assuming there are a few cell phone users here and I have a question, dilemma.
How do you carry?
In the beginning they always came with an open carry holster and life was good. Concealed carry was always a problem for me since I have other things in the pocket and I had trouble hearing it ring.
Phones got bigger but a nice leather holster was always available and life was still good.
Today, smart phones come with no decent options for carry so it's back to concealed carry in the pocket.
I miss the old days when all you needed was a dime in your pocket to keep the communication lines open.
Next we can talk about all the really cool things the smart phone does, I just wish I could see them on the tiny little screen.

I haven't applied for a permit yet nor have I registered my Smart Phone so I could get in trouble here. Concealed when walking. Open when in car or at work. Otter Box makes a good holster for my Galaxy III but I just don't trust any of them enough to risk having it fall off my belt or the phone dropping out of the holster. Cost way to much. The Otter Box belt clip for my phone also clips onto my sun visor in my truck, keeps the phone real handy.

I go with the "indifferent carry" mode. I use the nylon holster that came with my Letherman tool to carry my phone.

Nobody knows I'm "packin'."

BTW. Almost nobody has my cell phone number, so if it rings it's either my wife, or a wrong number. :)

Just me, but I always viewed those carrying their phones in a holster on their belt th same way I used to view the nerds with their calculators on their belts and a pocket protector. Sorry
I carry my phone in my suit coat pocket or pantses

:D I agree and my wife has pointed that out to me over the years on many occasions. I spent 35 years in data communications so I am qualified to carry in that manner.

That, combined with people walking around wearing a bluetooth and talking out loud, especially if its on a crowded elevator or someplace like that. It drives me wild and makes me want to walk up to them, rip that thing off their ear and smash it with my foot  !

I found it easier to buy a gun than a cell phone. When I told the young sales clerk I wanted a phone she launched into a spiel about all the nice options. I told her I only wanted a phone to talk into, no options needed. She couldn't understand this and started again about some of the features (apts, texting, etc) that were a "must have". I explained to her that at my age I have fewer "must haves" and she finally got it.

My Iphone goes in my left pocket, screen toward my leg. It rides in that pocket next to an ink pen, but nothing else.

So I guess I keep it concealed :)

You may want to stock up and hoard a few. I just changed phones and in the Verizon store there is ONE regular old cell phone off in the corner all by itself. That's really all I wanted but between my wife and kids I have to be able to send and receive texts.
This makes me laugh, I carried a beeper 100 years ago that could text and when cell phones became affordable I thought WOW what an advancement, no more texting. I will never understand why we all text on a phone that is perfectly capable to have a conversation with.

My middle son is one of those...and he is blazingly fast at sending text messages. He'd much rather text than talk...me, the other way around, although there are times I do send a text so that I don't disturb the recipient with a call. I am retired and we keep late hours...sometimes, I'll think of something at 2am that I need to tell one of the kids, for example, and I can send them a text they can read when they wake up, rather than call and wake them up, or wait to call later at which point I have forgotten why I am calling them.

Uh, oh; I will be mocked.

Wear my iPhone in a minimalist belt clip "holster" on my left hip...open carry; j-frame on my right...always concealed.

Two reasons for the phone thus carried; it's always on vibrate and I can't hear it usually if not. Also, I use a Jawbone bluetooth device. Much easier to converse that way and I see (hear?!? :p!) no difference using that than conversing with the phone in hand.

Your results may vary.

Be safe.

PS: And texting saves sooooooo much time...and there is a record of what you "said." For better or worse. :o

When my wife and I were both working we had breaks at different times and the only way we could communicate was by texting. We both had cheap NET10 phones that could only talk and text, that's all we needed. I carried mine in my left front pocket.
Now with my degenerative neuropathy my wife and I are together all the time and both phones are deactivated and put in a drawer.

Men who do manly work wear them on their belts with their flashlight and measuring tape. :)

I "open carry" my iphone on my belt between 10 and 11 o'clock. I use an otterbox defender series case. I pretty much need to wear it on my belt. The case is made to be heavily reinforced, nearly break proof, and is too thick to put in my pocket. Well, I COULD get it in my pocket, but the outer skin is rubber and grabs on to my pockets too much when going in and out.

It's a great setup, actually. I put it in the clip with the screen facing in, so the screen is totally protected. The back has the rubber sleeve on top of a plastic shell that has a layer of padding against the phone.

I highly reccomend the case to anyone who has an iPhone and works in a trade. Especially if you need your phone on you a lot. The only downfall is the screen protector, it seems to smudge easily. Obviously you can just wipe it though...

I really like cargo jeans, pants and shorts. Wrangler makes all of these types and all have a hidden cell phone pocket above the cargo pocket. It fits my Iphone 4S perfectly.

On those days when I wear plain old jeans or dress pants, I have a clip on case on my belt that works, but I often bump it against something, so I prefer the cargo set-up.

Never carry it in my pants, too big, too heavy, too bulky, plus there's a gun in my right pocket and that leaves only the left one which has my change, and misc. "stuff."

I usually wear cargo pants, long or shorts so no problem there. when I wear jeans or other pants I try to wear a shirt with pockets with flaps that button or Velcro shut so the phone won't slip out. Years ago I quit wearing a belt clip when I squatted down to check something and the holster and phone dove overboard
