Cellular Trail Cams?

A buddy has several. After I had three nice game cameras go "missing" we used one to catch a trespasser on my property stealing a broken one. We instantly got about 20 images of him removing the old camera wrapping it up and walking off. If you want specifics on the model I can ask him.

They are a bit of an overkill for my needs unless things start to disappear again, but they do have a benefit.

I never used them but a turkey hunting buddy liked them for real time tracking. That can land you in some hot water in some states!

I've been using the for a few years now, and they're very handy. Stealth cam is my favorite, with Moultri being the worst - actually far beyond bad. If Moultri was the only camera available, I'd do without. Last year I was missing hens on a nightly basis and suspected a coon - the camera showed a Bobcat leaving the hen house with a hen in its mouth. All mine take eight AA batteries, and they're good for about three months. I keep one aimed at the front of my fifth wheel that I keep on my hunting lease, and another aimed at the camera.

Do these cameras connect to your local wi-fi and upload images to the network? I can see how that would be helpful, never understood why trail cams were not routinely stolen! I have a cabin that is vacant much of the year and this sounds like it could contribute to peace of mind. I tried a Ring doorbell cam but my upload speed was so slow it couldn't send a file.

Some can also go to wi-fi (lots of options) but you must be near a network. I'm looking only for cellular based cameras. I have good cell service, but no wi-fi at camp. Troublemakers did leave me a free refrigerator last week :(

Mine sure don't. Those are out of my price range, and they do get stolen, but not very often because all of ours are on private ranches that restrict access to everyone but lease holders. We just use SDHC cards and download the pictures when we get back to camp.

I quit using them after I had 2 stolen from private property. I like the idea of the cell service, so you don't have to scent up the area when you check them. Good luck to you. I am not leaving anymore 100.00 bills sitting in the woods for a lowlife to pick up. I have to assume the cell cameras are even pricier.
