Well, they've sent out the folks with little GPS units verifying addresses.

It was the son of one of my old friends, to beat it all!!!
He said he got hired by applying online, and they paid mileage plus wages, but not a whole lot.

He was using a scooter- wish I could have thought of that.

So, have they been by your place yet?

(Let's keep the politics of this topic for the other section. Just curious to see if you've seen people doing this in your area.)

Not that I'm aware of, but I did see an attractive gal with a census bag wandering around some pretty iffy areas on my lunchtime walk on Tuesday.

Had one stop by here last week. I asked if they were going to come in person for the actual census or just mail me a form like they did last time. (My mailing address is different than my street address.) She didn't know, but made a note on the little machine she was using........

I got stuck being the Chairman of the 2010 Complete Count Committee for our county. Believe me, its no honor, it just rolled down hill 'til it got to me. The Census Bureau is supposed to have already done the address updates a few months ago, but it doesn't suprise me that they are still at it. The Census Bureau is the most disorganized organization I've ever had to work with.

As a matter of fact just this past Monday he stopped by, he happened to be the father of my daughter's high school friend. Luck guy is retired figured he'd do something with his free time. I suggested he take up shooting instead.

A lady stopped by here a few days ago. She said they were going to hang a census sheet on all front doors, because some addresses don't have mail boxes, only PO boxes. I guess they don't have a way to cross reference?

She asked about whether the garage on our other driveway was another residence or part or ours. She asked about the house down the road that is owned by someone out of town as a hunting camp. I offered some input on things across the highway, but she was only worried about the stuff to the right as she was coming north.

They are scurrying around Wheatland, WY making sure the address is correct, and that it is a single family dwelling.
When they finally get around to counting heads again next year places like LA will retain their seats in the US House based on head counts, not on the number of Americans counted in the area.
That is how the bimbos Boxer and Pelosi and have kept their districts. And Obama can justify his gigantic Socialist programs.
States like WY and MT don't have the illegal population and thus only get one seat and vote each each.

The last time, I filled out the short form. "They" were not satisfied with that. I got another request that wanted all kinds of information. I started throwing them away. "They" started showing up at my door. I finally got a $100.00 bill to show them I was ready and willing to pay their fine for not cooperating.
This time, I think I'll start off with "Piss on obama". If they bring up "its required by the Constitution" I'll go from there...

I kind of have a problem with that. I have no problem with telling them how many people live in my house. Not really a problem with ages, either. However, I don't think they need to know the household income, what routes we drive to work, etc. I don't think there's any justification for that in the Constitution.

You're correct, they can't justify it based on the constitution. I do know the reasons some of that was asked, but still don't like it.

I have to sometime use some software called HAZUS. Among other things, it helps to estimate the amount of damage that will be caused by flooding in order to help ,primarily, cities decide if it is worth it to buy out a neighborhood and make it a park. Nighttime floods cost more than daytime floods because of the number of people and cars at home. It can estimate this pretty well in a particular area because of the old census long forms. Thats just one example, though I still don't think that justifies it. Anyway it was things like that that caused them to ask so many odd questions.

However, this time everyone will get the short form. I don't like the questions on that either. Among other things it asks race and ethnicity questions. If the federal government had to be colorblind and treat everyone equally things would be done quite a bit differently. Among other things, political boundaries could not be drawn based on racial data.

I got a little unhappy with the census people two cycles back. They mailed me a form that asked a bunch of stuff. I wrote back a note attached to the form. I told them they were entitled to know how many of me there were and where I lived. I also told them I had no problem telling them things that were public record (like my salary since I was a civil servant) and real obvious stuff they could see or make a good guess at from the street, like how big my house was. The other stuff was none of their damn business and I told them so. Never heard back from them. I doubt I intimidated them, I suspect they just figured it wasn't worth the trouble. They are entitled to know how many of me there are and where I live. How many phones, internet connections and crappers there are in my house is another matter.

If someone from my city or county came around asking questions like that, and justified it as a "flood study" or some such, that would be OK. However, asking intrusive questions and hiding behind non-existent wording in the Constitution is a problem.

Refresh my memory, what information does the Constitution require that we provide for these censuses?

I believe it just requires an "enumeration". If you've ever done genealogical research you are probably glad it does a little more than just count heads, but much more than the basics is too much, IMO.
