Haven't seen a thread on this. Seattle is suing Glock over the design of their pistols. The suit says Glocks design makes it to easy to use Glock switches to make their handguns fully automatic. Said switches are of course illegal. The little tab on back of slide is replaced to accomplish full auto fire. Seems Glock as a whole takes a beating from shooters that don't care for their firearms but not to extent this suit enjoys. Any thoughts?

So when do they sue all the car makers for producing cars that can exceed the speed limits? Or cars that can be driven by drunks? Cars that can be souped up for drag racing?

These anti-U.S. Democrats are exactly why the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act was passed. Given the Supreme Court a few months ago ruled 9-0 (!) that U.S. enemy Mexico cannot sue gun makers in America for the violence of their drug cartels, this "case" has no chance. I would jail all Democrats who even try to violate the PLCAA. Any expenses incurred by Glock must be billed to the taxpayers of Seattle.

CA hasn't bothered with a lawsuit. They're legislature is looking to ban all Glocks in the state, period.
I hope they start with their law enforcement agencies. If I were Glock, I'd invoke the "Ronnie Barrett Response," imposed on California for banning the Barrett .50 rifles for citizen use. ("Ban my lawful product against citizens? I'll cut off the supply of my product to your LEOs!") I honor Ronnie Barrett for that!

Seattle is another universe run by idiots and maniacs. Reality and reasonableness have no traction there. Government is all about feeling good about yourself and virtue signalling. Positive accomplishment is meaningless.
Absolute truth!
Leftists. They aren't worth my time, and the lawsuit will get thrown out eventually.
And in the mean time pay the lawyers out of the taxpayers pockets. The only reason for doing this is grift.

Unfortunately, the future already has plans for this. The Tesla for example can be remotely shut down. Some courts have already ordered breathalyzer cut offs installed for some folks and their cars.

Yes, judges/courts have the authority to decide if that is an appropriate part of the punishment for an individual convicted of driving under the influence. Personally, I have no problem with them making that part of the penalty for repeat offenders or for blowing an insanely high number on their breathalyzer or for the same on a blood test. In my view both of those constitute a flagrant disregard for the law and safety for others and themselves. Car manufacturers aren't installing them at the factory.

Any vehicle that has remote connectivity to the interweb and has an integrated "kill switch" can be shut down remotely if programmed correctly. You have a "remote start" feature on your car? It can also be used to turn your car off by anyone who has some basic computer skills. Back in the early 80's I knew an electronics tech where I worked that made himself a remote kill switch that was activated by a radio signal after his car was stolen. Wouldn't mind having one of those on my ride today. Only problem with radio frequency control is pathetic range.

Any car with OnStar can be shut down remotely since the turn of the century. I worked at a Chevy dealer, & from time to time we'd get a car stolen off the lot. We'd see it go down the street, & immediately call OnStar with the VIN. They'd shut the car down within 30 seconds, & tell us exactly where it was. The crooks would bail, & we'd go get it. GARY

Evidently the Left Coast didn't learn anything from the Mexico lawsuit. Then there is the "pesky" Protection of the Lawful Commerce Act. I understand the "Glock Switch" is not made or sold by Glock as an accessory.

I'm sure that the city of Seattle will win their case in the state of Washington and likely even when it is appealed to the 9th circuit court, but then the SCOTUS will likely strike it down. The saddest part is that it is the taxpayers who have to pay for all of this nonsense.
Remember that the suit includes 2 or three local FFLs. The costs of battling this suit will likely cause them to shut down. Washington State has long been working on shutting down our LGSs as the one of their efforts to ban gun ownership in Washington State. They have made FFL licensing extremely costly, have imposed costly recording of all transactions and conversations, and banned a large portion of the most popular selling products. Bondi has stated "We are coming to Washington soon" but if she waits any longer, it will be too late.

It's really quite simple to avoid such onerous requirements: Plead not guilty, take the DUI charge to jury trial, reject probation if convicted, then do your sentence in the Grey Bar Hotel, behave yourself, earn good-time/work time credits, and get released after serving only a fraction of your original sentence, all without any silly conditions of probation.

"The little tab on back of slide is replaced to accomplish full auto fire."

That will be the way Glock gets this suit thrown out. If Glock didn't make this "switch" or incorporate it on their guns, then how can they be liable?

This way of thinking is a cancer in our country. Anyone with an ounce of honesty would have to admit any gun law restricts the law abiding citizen and nothing more. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe all of the criminals in Seattle wait for their background checks to go thru before they steal their next firearm for their next murder. Makes complete sense right?
