I bought a Laserlyte before the Crimson Trace. I didn't like the fact that you have to MANUALLY turn it ON/Off. I like and prefer the CT for the easy operation and auto shutoff. Plus Free lifetime battery replacement from Crimson Trace.

I have one, and it works as advertised. I like the fact I can turn it on or off easily. I did need to slightly file some of the material on the part that connects it to the trigger because of sharpness, but it was quick and easy and no longer an issue. My fingers are larger and many might not need to do so.
I really want Viridian to make a combo green laser and light unit for the Shield like they do for other guns with the ECR feature and maybe a Tac Lock holster to go with it. The holster isn't a big deal because it's easy to modify most existing holsters to work with ECR. And, the ECR feature can be turned off manually, although not as easy as the LaserMax. Also, green lasers are much more effective than red.
But, the LaserMax is nice and relatively cheap compared to others and it can be put on or taken off the gun easily.
