How does one go about removing the center pin from the extractor rod on a M29?

I assume you mean the center pin schematic.

That is a fitted part, so you will need to know how to fit it for length.

You just basically disassemble the cylinder.

1. Unload revover
2. remove yoke screw and remove yoke and cylinder from the revolver, take care not to scratch the frame
3. I install 3 fired casings in the cylinder to prevent shearing the locator pins
4. Turn the extractor rod in the correct direction. It will probably be a left hand thread unless your revolver is really old. Don't use vise grips on the knurled end.
5. Unscrew it all the way

Everything will just come apart now.

What leads you to believe it needs to be removed/replaced or whatever you are doing? It is not necessary to disassemble this much for normal cleaning. Is something wrong with the revolver?

I think you will find thisthis video useful to answer your questions. Yes I realize it is for straightening a bent extractor rod and not a center pin, the process would be similar. Normally it is the rod not the pin that bends.

Yes, it is a very loose fit.

If it doesn't, could be somebody used WD-40 and varnishes are holding it in the extractor. Could also be the extractor is bent but the rod is straight.

Yes, once the extractor rod is unscrewed from the extractor. The center pins usually don't bend but the front (muzzle) end sometimes mushrooms.

Bingo. I knew the extractor was straight so assumed the center pin was bent. A bit of a mushroom on the end so I gently removed it with a fine file and now all is good. It is a recent purchase and the cylinder was difficult to open. The 'shroom was it. Appreciated.
