I use chamber brushes to clean the cylinders of my .45 and .38 caliber revolvers. I usually use Pro Shot brushes. But I recently acquired a 44 magnum revolver, and have found to my surprise that nobody seems to offer a 44 caliber chamber brush. Not Pro Shot, Tipton, or anybody else whose products appear on MidwayUSA's website. I called Pro Shot to verify, and visited the Tipton and Otis websites.

So, what are you using to clean the cylinders on your .44 revolvers? I could use a .45 brush, but it would probably wear out after a single use.

.45 brush works best and it's so close to .44 it won't wear out as quickly as you think. I buy from Brownell's. I don't know anything about Tipton, but don't buy anything Otis. My experience with their rifle brushes in several calibers is that they are all undersize.

I usually use this guy for my 44s (44 cal bronze brush)

...and if it's really gunked up from 44spls in my 44mag I use this guy (44 cal tornado brush)

...usually followed by this middle guy (44 cal mop) with a dollop of Hoppe's #9 lube. My suggestion is to buy this 3 piece kit with everything you need.

I have a brush for 40 cal that I use. It does have friction when using it and it does clean the barrel. I would think a 45 cal brush would work.

I think I have found a better answer. I have a new Pro-Shot chamber brush for .22-250, .243, .308, etc. Pro-Shot's Item number is 30BC. I was surprised when I looked at this brush because it looked almost as wide as my .45 cal chamber brush. But this one is for rifles instead of pistols, so maybe that is the reason. I have tried it in my .44 Magnum cylinder and is a firm fit. It feels like pushing a proper fitted bore brush down a bore. I think that this brush will do a good job and have a long life as well. My cylinder is already clean (it is new) so I won't be able to do a good test until after I shoot this gun.

I love the "Tornado" style brushes but only use the bronze, The Steel ones scare me. They are hard to find. I use them in my good shotgun bores.

Yup, use .45 rifle brushes, they do wear but not terribly fast. Then there is always Lewis Lead Remover in .44. I have that too.
