Chamfering a Cylinder

I want to chamfer my cylinder for my new 29 Classic 44 Mag, and a Model 19-4 357 Mag. I plan to remove the extractor and do just the cylinder to the bare minimum just to remove sharp edges. Has anyone done this? Most importantly what tools did you use? I'm shopping for the right tools for the job and would appreciate a link to the exact tool anyone has used for this job.
 
Which kit for just the .44 mag? (I'm at work and it won't let me open the brownell's site). I want to both chamfer the cylinder and also the barrel near the cylinder.

If all you want to do is one .357 and one .44, you may not want the whole kit, which is kind of pricey. However, I've paid for mine many times over through the years.

First off thanks for the help. It seems like you are a expert I see the degrees listed. Which do you use for chamfering? I heard 45 degrees was best, but don't see that listed with the kit. You would know better than myself though.

You have the right idea. Remove the extractor and just chamfer the cylinder. You can cut a chamfer about .020" wide and help your chambering considerably, the rds still headspace off the extractor.

Thank you Tomcat, that's exactly what I was looking for. One more question measuring the .020". What the best tool for that? Please excuse the simple questions, but I am currently in Iraq and don't have access to the books. I'm trying to get the right tools and plan so I have them waiting for me and my project when I get back.
 
Here's an old trick: Make a gage to limit the bevel to just what you want, and keep it uniform for all chambers.
This gage allows adjusting the chamfer cutter with micrometer precision for uniform cuts on all chambers.

Get a block of hard wood.

Get a short, large bolt that has a shaft that will just fit into the chamber.

Cut the head off the bolt and flatten and true up the cut area.

Screw the bolt into a hole drilled into the wood block.

Put the cylinder over the bolt with it in one chamber.

Turn the bolt into the block until when you put the cutter pilot into the chamber, the cutter face just touches the edge of the chamber mouth.

Turn the bolt in until the cutter cuts a chamfer to the depth you want.
Then you simply put the next chamber over the bolt and cut until the cutter stops cutting.
All the chambers will have the same chamfer.

I made a more professional rig from an aluminum block with a lock nut on the bottom to lock the bolt at the correct depth.

You can also do the same thing with a drill press with a depth stop.
UNPLUG the press and unhook the drive belt.
Lock the cutter and pilot in the chuck and set the press depth stop.
Turn the chuck by hand to cut the chamber bevel, then cut the others.
