I was standing in a line at the Horseshoe Casino in Tunica, MS once when I noticed the guy in front of me had a giant ring on encrusted with jewels, sort of like a Super Bowl ring or a World Series ring. I tell the guy that's a heck of a ring there is it some sort of sports championship ring and he say here try it on. Had a big ruby red T on it, it was a Texas Rangers 2011 American League championship ring. He said look what's on the side and it said owner. Then I looked up at his face and noticed I was talking to Charley Pride. I had to tell him I was a Cardinal fan, they beat Texas in the series that year. He took it real well.
Later I looked up his bio on the internet and sure enough, one of the owners of the Texas Rangers. He'd come a long way cause it also told me he's played Negro League Ball for Memphis back in the 50s.
