Ellen Treanor, associate vice president of strategic communication management at Utah Valley University, told Fox News Digital shots were fired at Charlie Kirk from a building about 200 yards from the tent where he was speaking.

Treanor told Fox News Digital Kirk was "immediately" taken away from campus by his security team following the shooting.

A suspect has been taken into custody, according to the university. They have not yet been publicly identified.

Most recent news report said he was shot from 200 feet, not yards, and a suspect is in custody. Seems little to no security was provided at the event. Nothing said about Kirk's condition.

Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, is reportedly listed in critical condition after being shot at an event in Utah on Wednesday.

Kirk was shot while speaking at Utah Valley University.

A law enforcement official told The Associated Press that Kirk was listed in critical condition at a Utah hospital.

Videos posted to social media from Utah Valley University show Kirk speaking into a microphone while sitting under a white tent when a shot rings out.

A suspect was in custody shortly after the shooting.

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk has died after being shot at an event on Wednesday afternoon at Utah Valley University.

President Donald Trump confirmed Kirk's death in a post on Truth Social.

"The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie," Trump wrote. "He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!"
