Charlotte NC Tonight!!

I live in Charlotte and work in uptown. I will second what you have just stated. Between riots last night... Not protests as some media sources have stated. And what is occurring tonight, somebody better bring in the national guard cause things can go south quickly. Last night people stopping tractor trailers on the highway, stealing their load and lighting the remaining goods on fire in the middle of the highway while throwing rocks and bottles at cars is out of control. If I had been on that road with my family I don't know how I would have responded. All I know is, I am doubling down on the firearms I keep with me each day when I go to work and pick up my kids. I'm at the point of carrying a rifle or shotgun in the car. Maybe I'm over reacting but the people who are responding with this kind of violence have me concerned for the well being of my family.

If possible avoid the situation and get outta dodge for a few days.
 
What's worse is I have to leave town for a few days for work, leaving my wife and kids home. According to the news this morning. All the businesses in uptown have been destroyed. All glass windows and doors destroyed. Stores looted. This is awful

The big three; Wells Fargo, Bank of America and Duke Energy declared a state of emergency. All employees should stay home. Absolutely crazy

I'm hoping with the national guard moving in that things will calm down. But there is the chance that things can escalate. I guess we will see how "passionate" these protestors are shortly.

Sadly, it is well past time to take the gloves off. Everyone has the right to protest, but no one has the right to damage, loot, and attack others. One protester murdered last night.

This **** has got to be stopped, before it really gets out of hand and becomes widespread.
 
I work in charlotte as a leo. this week the mossberg 500 8 shot is in my trunk and my model 64 with golden sabers is by my seat and my duty gun is with me also. and that is my carry options for folks who want to try to stop me from getting home. I agree they need to take the police tactics back to the 1960s and bust heads and drag them in jail. but now with the crappy leaderless country we live in we cant stop crooks. Instead we make cops the enemy.
 
If I hear one more talking head use the term "protests" to describe what's going on Charlotte, I think I'll scream.

"Protesters" don't loot...or burn...or throw rocks at the police...or murder other protesters. People who engage in such behavior are not protesting, they are breaking the law, rioting if you will...and they need to be stopped.

Watching the news last night, I was reminded yet again why I don't have the patience or tolerance to be a LEO...God bless those guys, and may they stay safe.

Thank you for your service and I can't express the frustration I feel for anyone in Law Enforcement. I agree that tactics need to be escalated and it's time to put people in their place.

100% agree. The fact that the news media is still referring to this as violent protests is ridiculous. Maybe I'm missing something but every image I see doesn't show anyone with a sign or a slogan like what you see in New York and other cities right now. Instead all I see is looting, unnecessary violence and selfish acts that are going to further put Americans in compromised positions. It's a sad day to see this happening in Charlotte.

My heavy duty 4x4 truck would preform a maneuver us Northern folks will know from how you rock out of snow by going forward and backward till you get free! In my Vette I hope I never have to make that choice as that vehicle has only a couple inches of ground clearance, that would plug up fast!
 
Chief Parker said it best,...... " when the lootin' starts, the shootin' starts ". We all know that rhetoric from the 60's will not fly today but this is NO protest. This is lawlessness. I saw an innocent chased down and beaten by lawless THUGS, people trapped, businesses looted and burned. Enforcement is what is needed. No hands off. No be nice. Enforce the law and Protect and Serve as your supposed to. Politics and Police work do not mix. Protect yourselves and your families from this horde of criminals.

I admire you for being in LE... Now...lets call out the Guard, and in cooperation with you guys surround these people so they have no avenue of retreat and arrest every one of them who is causing civil unrest and property damage. Yes, take the gloves off....We have to or it's gonna get worse all across the country........

This is along the lines of my initial post. My feelings are that I will be increasing the capacity of my carry arms. I don't want to seek out a situation but I want to ensure that I can get home to my family and protect my property should this situation move south.

Lethal force is justified to defend your family or yourself.

I've never understood why someone driving a 3,000 pound car would feel the need to stop for a 180 pound thug, trying to block their way.

Years ago, I introduced two thugs to Mr. right front fender. The other thugs decided that they had no desire to meet Mr. fender or any of his friends.

I was thinking about that last night when I heard it on the news.
What can you do? You're essentially trapped in the urban version of a boxed canyon with high fences on the sides, murderous mob in front, and a huge traffic jam behind you.
The vehicle I'm not concerned about, so depending on how close the mob was, I'd probably abandon my truck and retreat to the rear(after I gathered any and all weapons from therein)preferably with a rapidly growing group of like minded citizens. There is, presumably, strength in numbers alone and the mob cannot single out individuals that way. Standing your ground just to protect your possessions would be assinine in my opinion, I don't care what you're driving.
It seems unlikely that you would be surrounded and attacked as a group. However, if and only if that were to happen before you could move en masse to a safe haven, would I resort to deadly force. And then only after warning very loudly of my intention. Would I fire a warning shot? I don't know; probably not. What would the mobs reaction be if you took out the closest threat? Who knows, maybe they'll disburse, maybe they will attack. A nightmare scenario to be sure. At that point I would just pray the fight ran out of them before I ran out of ammo.
