Charter Arms Pitbull 9mm Revolver

Brought a brand new one home yesterday. Anyone else have one?
Have not taken it out shooting. We've got red alert fire conditions here in Reno so outdoors shooting is on hold. Feel, fit, finish are excellent. SA mode is in the 3 ft/lb range. Has a good feel when it goes click.
I had a few questions so I emailed the factory this morning. Instead of a return email, got a phone call from Nick Ecker, the company owner. That scored big with me, taking time for the little guy!
Just weighing in to see if others like their revolvers.

I have the 40 S&W pitbull, not too bad, but had to send it back for two issues. Ejection pin broke, and barrel was visibly rough bore. Haven't had a problem since. I have a vintage bulldog for the wife.

Really wish Charter had made the guns for moon clips instead of the pins.

Hello, I to like the CA's, I got a new 44 bulldog recently and love it, I had a chance to shoot my friends 9mm, it shot ok but loading and unloading was a pain! If it had mom clips I would own a 9&40&45!

No 9mm, but I own 3 of the CURRENT Charters - 2 .44 Bulldogs and a .38 Spl Off Duty snub. All shoot very well.
Had a problem with one of the - bought used - bulldogs, and emailed Charter about it. The OWNER emailed me back, gave me shipping instructions, they replaced the crane and sent it back, no charge at all, not even shipping...and I told him I bought the gun second hand
They have my customer loyalty right there.

IMO, the recent CA's are very accurate, solid shooters.

i have 2 charter arms revolvers. an off-duty 12 ounce 5-shot and a police undercover 20 ounce 6-shot. Both great guns. the 6 shooter is my favorite gun to carry and shoot. i have s/w revolvers and semi-autos...ruger revolvers and semi-autos, and kahr semi-autos.

I own a Charter Arms stainless 38 Special snub.
It was made in 1967, and I bought it then as a purse gun for my wife.
I still own it, but rarely carry it because I prefer the .357 magnum Model 60 stainless that I always have on me when I leave the house.

I have two of their .44 Spl Bulldogs and between the two of them they've had about 500-600 rounds thru them and while I know that isn't exactly a lot of ammo, I've never had any issues from light handloads, Hornady, CCI, PMC, etc. Excellent guns for the money

I have one or I should say Charter Arms has it and they have had it for over a month now
With less than 100 rounds through it the cylinder latch locked up and you cant open the cylinder to eject the empties or re load it
Charter Arms has been aware of this problem for some time and had done nothing to correct the problem.
When I do get it back (Lord only knows when that will be)
I will be selling or tradeing it off and I will not be buying anymore Charter Arm products.

Well thats the first DIS i've ever seen on charter arms customer service. I had a plusP remington bullet pull out of its casing and jam my cylinder once. (can happen to all small frame light revolvers) sent it to charter just to get checked out because they requested i do so...found no damage and i had it back in less than 7 days.. and i got a phone call too...something doesn't sound quite right with your particular issue

I have a Mag Pug and it's been flawless.

I live in CT and prior to purchasing I emailed Charter Arms asking them who locally would be the best source for their products and they responded with an invite to their facility. While at their factory my wife and I was give a tour by Nick Ecker the owner. We were also able to test fire a Bulldog, Mag Pug and Pink Lady. After leaving I went an purchased my Mag Pug 15 minutes later.

They are really good people who care about their products, their employees, and especially their customers. The owner is a top notch person who is a really nice guy a true people person. He is also a huge source of knowledge and the time we spent with him is something my wife and I will never forget.

I plan on buying a few more of their products down the road. My wife will be buying a pink lady soon.

I don't have a Charter, but admit I'm a fan of the little 9MM revolvers. Let us know how it goes when you can get out to shoot it. I have the little S&W and Ruger 9MM revolvers. Both good little guns, and hopefully yours will perform every bit as well for you. Ballistics of some 9MM ammo in these little guns is more impressive that some might assume. We're under fire restrictions here in Arizona too, so I know how that is. We just had a significant wildfire in the area. They called it the Highline fire, with 1200+ personnel fighting it, DC-10 water bombers,etc. Fortunately, we have an outdoor range close by that is still open.

I had a Pitbull .40. It had inconsistent primer strikes. (bought new) It was sent back and with it an explanation of what they did to it. Was still not right. Sent back again. They sent me a new 1. It had a canted barrel. Sent it back and it came back right. Customer service was accommodating. No shipping charges ever paid. Did not have enough faith in the product to keep it. Too bad! Bob
