So I had cable installed today. I had to work, and so did my fiancé, so we had her mom stay here while the guy was here. When I get out of work I check my phone and I have a text from my fiancé saying I need to call her mom about the charter guy. So I call her. Apparently he first was saying that if he doesn't get enough sleep, then he's going to start killing people. Then he makes my fiancés mom move everything that needs to be moved. She's older and has a bad shoulder. Then, too top it off, he locked my cat in a box. I called charter and filed a complaint. They said that his notes say he never entered the house.

And my fiancé wonders why I carry a gun

Is that nuts, or what? "It doesn't take all kinds, we just have all kinds.". Persue your complaint. Strange and possibly dangerous person in people's homes.

Charter is the worst cable company in America. It's rated the worst. I've had the next to lowest rating, Time-Warner, it's still much better.

I just bailed on Time-Warner and jumped to AT&T. The jury is still out, but so far it seems to be a slight improvement. Charter is notoriously awful.

Most of their techs, however, like those of the other outfits, are contractors with little direct supervision.

That cretin sounds like a waste of perfectly good protoplasm.

I'm going to. I don't know what his main location was but when I can I'm going to the charter I know that's like 20 minutes from my house. That's just ridiculous. I know it's an outrageous sounding complaint, but I felt like the guy I talked to about it just shrugged it off. I'm irate about it honestly

Screw cable, get satellite. We had cable for 12 years and just recently switched to satellite. Better service, picture and features for less. Don't know how we ever got along without a dvr.
They say the satellite dish is the West Virginia state flower, I can now see why.

Satellite is no great shakes, either. I have to battle with Dish all the time. And if it rains, no programming.

Trashman, I hope you do follow up on this;the guy sounds nuttier than a fruitcake! He needs to be taken out of the loop. Who knows, your complaint might save somebody a lot of grief.

I've had Direct TV since about 1993 I have had good service with them. Got it because of P poor service and picture quality from cable. When we first got it you had to buy your own equipment, but that has changed since then. The only time I've lost picture is during a super hard rain or snow fall. That was only for a few minuets. HD is a different story but you can just change to the regular non HD channel and you get the show. Longest lost signal was only about 15 minuets. I have plenty things to do if that happens, like that maybe watch recorded Twilight Zone shows or DVD's Tails of the gun.

Anyway if he didn't enter the house how did he run the cable, install the box and test it? I would follow up with another complaint and tell someone else higher up about his threat's and her treatment. They need to understand they need you more then you need them. Just watch yourself if he gets fired you never know what a nut case like that will do.

I don't mean to trash..Trashman's post, or hijack it...Yes I'd say follow up with the complaint...Obviously he was there...You have their system there now. Correct. So he was lying to his company, you have proof that he WAS there.

Next....I'm on telephone dial up...and it's slower than molasses going up hill in January...I can't get cable where I'm at...I've got Direct for my TV, but I'm really considering going Verizon wireless, and chuck my land line phone. I only have my land line now so I can have computer access.

It won't be exactly a bundle package, but I can have my cell phone and computer on on one bill. For what it's worth, I only have 1.5 KB or MB or what ever it is....Surly with wireless it will be faster...

But then I'd have to type faster and read faster wouldn't I?????

My latest land line phone bill has sent me over the edge....Phone $17.80 all the add on's, taxes and **** = $51.00 per month. Even a call to less than 100 miles away 50 cents for less than 5 minutes.

Gee whiz! I was just mad the past few weeks because Time-Warner dropped CBS programming in Dallas, NYC, and Los Angeles for about three weeks. They were squabbling over who paid which of them what. Finally, they reached a deal and I can now view CBS.

During this hiatus, I could watch CBS on my antenna (non- cable connection) and they were urging viewers to tell Time-Warner to re-instate service. They threatened that we'd be unable to see sports on their network. I never watch spectator sports. I watch CBS to see, "Blue Bloods", "The Mentalist", and a few other shows. Sometimes, I get so fed up at NBC that I watch the news on CBS.

Is this a good place to tell about the bi-polar taxi driver I had recently? He spent the trip telling me his horrible life story and admitting that he doesn't take the meds he can get for free, because he can't read English (and has very imperfect Spanish reading skills) but is too proud to tell the nurses and ask for help. He almost ran two red lights. I did report him, as I felt he's a threat to passengers and anyone on the road. A taxi supervisor told me later that he'd been fired, and told me that I wasn't alone in complaining.

I suspect that a great many workmen/repairmen and taxi drivers in this country are borderline nuts. Some are definitely over the edge.

Good luck in dealing with this problem, OP. If he wasn't driving a company van, did your future MIL see his car and remember it?

She told me it was a white van that said charter on it, but it looked like the charter signs were magnets. Waiting until Monday to go straight to the office. I want to talk to this guys supervisor. Somehow "we will open and investigation" just doesn't satisfy me.

Take pictures of the equipment that was installed. And the bill too.
