$400 or less for 1K of 7.62x39 is becoming common. I just got an e-mail for $360 for Red Army 7.62x39

Yeah I'm seriously looking at putting together an AR in 7.62 Russian because of the cost. That and it hits harder at closer range
 
7.62x39 ?

That was my first AR...and still is. Have the one lower and a 5.56 upper too.
I have a RL550 Dillon and was lucky enough to run into a lower indexing plate and pins about 10-11 years ago. Use a 3-die set and presto !, easy load (well, almost) 7.62x39. Ran into a batch of once fired W/W cases that looked like they may have been fired in a machine gun but they straighten right out. Dillon made the equipment originally but had quit making it by the time I lucked into the lower plate but maybe they make it again, I don`t know, haven`t looked.

I have a Chinese-made MAK-90 that I like, but my favorite rifle in 7.62 X 39 that I have is my CZ 527 bolt gun.
