Cheap 64's on Gun Broker

I got the last 64-8 today:)

Good thing I'm one of the few people who likes the newer Smiths!

I was the one bidding against Ben on that 64. He got a super deal on that one. I have satalite internet, and on my last bid attempt I could not bring the gun up to place my bid on it with 3 or 4 minutes left.
It looked very clean in the pictures. It should make him a great gun.

My guess is most of these guns are going to be Security Guard guns, Armored Car Guard guns, or Prison Guard guns. I doubt anyone doing the ordering is worried about the lock, MIM Parts, or 2 Piece Barrels. The locks are not used, and very seldom give any problems, so no big deal if they have the lock or not.

That must have been a different auction Bob. The seller had almost 50 of the Model 64 trade-ins with a $209 "buy it now" so no bidding was necessary.

Why do I always find these things out a day late and a dollar short!!?? Noticed this thread the very same day after already ordering a m64 with a bobbed hammer (which I'm not crazy about) from J&G's at a slightly higher price...who'm I kidding $65 or so bucks less to get the one I'd ruther have in the first place...the S|A D|A with a full hammer...oh well, live and learn...getting a little tired of living that mantra. Maybe I can scrounge enough to come up with one more order??? Maybe I should just forget I eversaw this thread..

I feel your pain. I was [] that close to ordering one from J&G several times when this thread popped up.

Some days you eat the bear...some days the bear eats you.

DA shooting is what these are made for.
Do not weep, you still have a fine revo + (and don't forget) it has NYPD provenance.
Mine will probably be marked "Guido's Guard Service".

No offense...I'd probably have more fun with "Guido's" :D

It's threads like this that have caused me to have and own no less than 7 or 8 'Truck Guns'. Oddly enough I only own 2 trucks.

The NYPD NY-1 64's are way cool, I would not feel like you overpaid for one of those:) Like was said above, these are duty guns not single action Bullseye guns..........DAO is just fine, and even though I am far from an expert handgun shooter I am able to do some great target work with all of my DAO revolvers.

I'm happy I scored a 64-8, I wanted the latest model of the 64 to go along with my 64-7 security trade in.........I may have to see if I can swing a 64-6 before they run out of these.

I just sealed the deal on three of the Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore Model64 pistols.

How do you guys think I did as a first time purchaser of S&W revolvers?

I figure I can give one to my mom, one to my sister and my wife and I will use the third one as a plinking revolver/woods gun.

These pistols would make great stocking stuffers for all the big kids in your family. Christmass is right around the corner...

You did pretty well, IMHO.

I get visitation rights to mine tomorrow. I won't be able take full custody until wednesday.

Thanks, I did a good bit of research and think this deal will work out very well.

That sucks soo bad you can't take her home with you.
Call your senator and work on getting those laws changed. I know it's a long shot but it's all about grass roots, you know?

Anyway, we'll need to post pictures of our Model 64s when we do get them home and post them here.

I've no real problem with shooting DAO revolvers, the thing is I enjoy S/A equally, or more, and a bobbed hammer on a revolver just doesn't seem "right" to me. It's purely personal preference but not a deal breaker by any means. I'm still excited for it to arrive! And am sure it'll make a perfectly serviceable truck/house gun, whichever role I choose for it. The hammer will stick in my mind though until I either "fix" it or find a way to swing one of these 64's from SOS on my limited income...the gears are turning...:)

I noticed those 64's have been ticking down on the auction, one day it was like 60 left, and today it's like 35:)

I'm tempted to go for a 2nd one but honestly it would be hard for me to justify right now.....with a 64-3, -7, and soon a -8 in the collection..........not to mention the pile of trade in Ruger .38 and .357's........I can't try to talk myself into "another shooter" hahaha

Speaking of NYPD DAO .38's, this Ruger GPNY is one of my favorites and the lack of a SA feature doesn't keep the gun from shooting ragged holes at 25 yards.

Well, I saw my $209 M64 today. BNZ dates it mid 1993, 64-5. I selected the square butt wood grip one. Color me impressed, immaculate condition. Not a scratch, dent or ding on it. Very slight cylinder ring. The finish looks like brand new only aged 18 years. The grips look like they were taken off the day the gun was originally purchased and reinstalled for resale. Absolutely no wear. There is no question this gun did not spend day in day out in someones holster. I'm guessing it lived in someones drawer for 18 years.

Mine's Here - WOW WOW WOW

2-Day Fedex, mine arrived this morning. To say that I'm pleased would be a gross understatement.

I had phoned Ryan with my request for a no-lock RB. This one is a -5, with what I believe are MIM hammer and trigger. No biggie there, as it does have the hammer nose firing pin. Locks up tight as a tick.

With old cop guns, there's always a chance of getting Barney Fife's that fell out of his holster every time he climbed in or out of his 62 Ford patrol car. Not so with this one. Agency markings were cut into the butt of the grip, none on the gun itself.

A few minor scratches on the bottom of the trigger guard is all I see. Expected state of police cleanliness, or lack thereof. I field stripped it immediately and its on my bench soaking in Kroil. Threw the scrungy goodyears in my junk grip box.

Plan is to do do a clean and polish, light action job, and find a set of RB Magnas. A polished T-Grip adapter would finish things off.

And now....the images please!

There were 38 of them in stock at noon, now the listing is closed with none available? Damnit, I took to long to talk myself into it!

I was just gonna say, the listing just closed........either someone called and just bought the rest of them, he's gonna relist them for a different price because all of the -4's are gone, or he's gonna seperate them by features or condition........who knows.
