I never laughed so hard in many moons. Can you imagine a customer ordering an engraver to put that on a gun? Wow!

Definately not my first choice when looking to have some engraving done

. I wonder if someone will pay that price for it.

That's Looney Tunes! The purchaser AND the engraving!

I am a big fan of Ol' Yosemite myself, but I don't think I would ruin a nice Centennial with his image. (Thought hard about getting him on a tattoo when I was younger. Glad I opted not to!)

I like it... I wouldn't pay much for it, but i like it...

Someone needs to invent Temporary Tattoos for guns I think.

That is definitely a first. I wouldn't do it, or pay for it, but I don't hate it, it's kinda funny, and an original piece if ever there was!

There were a handfull of Winchester shotguns around in the 70's & 80's (M12's) for sale with Disney characters done up in large gold and silver inlays. IIRC they were aftermarket engraved. Many by Angelo Bee and not factory. I'm sure there are some factory jobs though. There's a few Colt pistols around with cartoon image engraving on them, usually with gold inlay. I know of a 'set' of Colt 25 autos with gold Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck inlays on them. Early pistols recently engraved (within the last 30+yrs), but done by two different engravers, and then,,years apart from each other. One was a factory engraver, the other a factory contract engraver for a short time. There are others. They got about the same responses as this S&W did. A few like it for the novelty, but for the most part they became a difficult re-sell. The shotguns came up for sale often over the years but I haven't seen them for a while. Maybe someone has finally found a keeper!

unique to say the least. The funny part is the some buyer from cabela's actually agreed to buy it.

"Backoff!~~~Backoff!!!!"

Did he get the mud flaps to go with it?

Knowing how protective S&W is of they're copywrited and trademarked logo and markings, I wonder if they had to get, or if they even did get permission to put the 'Sam' character on the gun (if it is a factory job). S&W understandibly lets loose they're team of lawyers at the first sign of anyone using the company trademarks, logo or any copywrited material on any unauthorized item. Warner Bros, or who ever owns 'Sam', makes a lot of $$ off of that old dude yet. A few engravers have been sued over the years for taking copywrited art work and making an engraving scene out of it. IIRC a Federal Duck Stamp print was the subject of one case but I don't recall how far the artist pursued it nor the outcome. Alot of money involved sometimes.
