Ok, I'm familiar with Simply Rugged's holsters but I'd like to hear some opinions on the Chesty Puller straps. I prefer pancake holsters, and I like the idea of using these straps to convert my current holsters to a chest rig for field use. It's obviously cheaper than buying several different chest/shoulder rigs for different guns, but are they worth it? I haven't seen many reviews on this system, so I thought I'd check to see if anyone on here is using them.

Thanks

I would assume you might get more response from a handgun hunting site then a concesaled carry. The puller system would be hard to hide in my opinion

Exactly. The Puller system was designed to get your gun up out of the way when you're in the field hunting, fishing, anytime you need to protect the gun yet still have it available quickly. Meant for concealment it ain't. Rather than buy a chest rig for you gun you can just buy the Puller conversion system if you already have the SR holster. Pretty handy!

Sorry guys. Guess I wasn't clear on my intended use of this system. When I said field use I meant hunting, fishing, ect. Never planned on trying to conceal it. I've seen guys mention on here that they bought this system, so I thought I'd see if I could get any opinions from people who have used it.

Thanks for the link Pop's2. I've read a lot of reviews online, but hadn't found that thread yet. There's some good info there. I too use a cordura rig for my 7 1/2" hunting guns, but was thinking of picking up these straps for carrying my 4-5" guns along.

I've had that system for 2 or 3 years now and don't use it very much. But when I do use it, it works as advertised. Fairly comfortable as well. It's great when you need the space on your belt for other things. I would say it is specialized piece of equipment that is great when needed but not an absolute neccesity.

Thanks briarjumper. That's kinda what I was thinking about it. Also why I've been on the fence about spending the money on it. It's starting to sound pretty good though. I may just have to pick one up.

I've been looking at Rob's "Chesty Puller" system for a while now. I didn't realize Mernickle had an option as well. I have a chance to do a backpacking trip in Glacier next Summer. Call me a sissy if you wish (I am), but I'd really rather not go traipsing around in grizzly country unarmed. I understand the importance of OC spray, but I'm not thrilled about carrying ONLY an aerosol for protection.

Anyway, the chest system seems to me a viable way to carry a large bore wheelgun while also carrying a pack. It also strikes me as a practical way to deal with the increased weight of such arms. Anyone used one with a backback?

Guess I'm a dumb***! As Marine recruits, we always told Chesty goodnight where ever he might be! I have seen pictures where he was wearing what appeared to be a tanker's rig. Is there a commercial offering that is a chest carry?

There are a couple commercial offerings out there, but the one I've been looking at is offered by Simply Rugged. Take a look at their site and scroll down to the Chesty Puller System.
