Chevy question for mechanics

In conversation with a truck driver delivering fuel at a station, he revealed that the 87 octane gas is not 87 until they add the corn syrup into the mix. ( you did know that they are burning our food ). So I run 89 and in winter add Marvel Mystery Oil per directions at 4oz per ten gallons. If storing for a time, I run only non ethanol premium with Startron stabilizer.

There is no such thing as a mechanic in a can. Engine additives are kind of like dietary supplements. You never know what you’re putting in the system. I want to return to using premium fuel. Higher octane gasoline allows for a slower, more controlled burn rate, and precludes abnormal combustion, called detonation. The premium fuel allows for more spark advance and therefore more cylinder pressure and power. This would generally INCREASE the blowby, making the situation worse.
