I heard on the radio yesterday that Rahm is rolling out an AWB for Chicago next Tuesday. This is regardless of the fact that none of the news reports regarding killings in Chicago have ever even hinted that an "assault weapon" was used.
Given Rahm's ties to Obama, I suspect the Chicago AWB is a trial balloon for a state AWB and a federal AWB. Chicago will roll out a ban first (only 2-3 aldermen ever vote against Rahm), fix the legal holes and then the feds will put forward virtually the same ban--only use the executive order to implement it so the ban doesn't get hampered by that pesky old Congress or the democratic process. Governor Madigan will try the same.
