"A 69-year-old concealed carry license-holder in Chicago thwarted off three would-be robbers on Tuesday by shooting at them after they demanded his belongings, police said.

The three men approached the older man around 10:35 p.m. in the community of Beverly, about 15 miles south of downtown Chicago, police said. "

The story only gives info on two of the suspects - both teens, one 15 and one 16.

Interesting the charges for the 15 yr old are misdemeanors. The 16 yr old has felony charges, but those are related to the stolen car they crashed when fleeing.

The shooter will prob get 10-15.

Yep. If not, you can bet your bobsled the old guy will be sued. Mom and Grandma will be on the stand telling everyone what a good boy he is and he was in the process of turning his life around. Heck! You shouldn't shoot someone just because they're going to rob you! I mean, how else is he going to get money to buy his school clothes? Get a job? You gotta be kiddin'!

Note that this was a multiple attacker scenario. While crime, like policing, is regional - one should be prepared for such.

This area is about 4 city blocks from where a CFD recent retiree was shot and killed during an attempt car jack a couple months ago. 4 MORON teens approached the guy and demanded his car, but he too had a gun and permit and shot at them. Unfortunately he didn't hit one and they took off without his car. Cash reward was put up and I know they caught 3 of the 4. Beverly is a nice area of Chicago increasingly being preyed on by the poor unfortunate savages that live a couple miles east. My best buddy lived in BEVERLY in a turn of the century three story frame house with turrets on top. He was the oldest of 15 and they all turned out fine. The family had zero extra cash or privilege. My buddy wound up a Marine Captain and flew F4's. How is it "people" that live 2 miles east can wind up as animals??
