Any theories as to why Hank Voigt shoots with one hand while everyone else uses two ?
 
Another "it's a TV show for entertainment only, not an in-service documentary on police science" thread. Certainly no one troubled by the mistakes would watch such a show a second time.
 
My guess is because it looks cool.

I do find it odd because apparently everyone on the show trained with actual guys from Chicago PD.......

However the guys on the show seem to have a much higher hit rate than the actual PD:D ....so it makes ya wonder.
 
Answers to your questions/puzzlements:

The boss shoots one-handed because
he's no namby-pamby; a hand gun is
a hand gun, not a hands gun. You
only need two hands if you are among
the handicapped or young.

Seldom seen paperwork because the
Chicago PD is streamlined and super
efficient; not a department created by
bureaucrats.

A detective can tell if a SIG 210 was
used because if he couldn't, he wouldn't
be a Chicago detective.

As to hit rate, the Chicago PD always
hits what is being aimed at; also, it's
against department policy to miss.

Hope this satisfies you skeptics.

I'm ahead of the curve because I've never watched it. Well, other than by accident.

Same thing for Blue Bloods, any of the Law & Order shows, and just about any other police show on TV.

Completely unrealistic. They are more or less Lifetime Movies for men.

Not to mention the anti 2A stuff, which I won't.

I think I gave "Longmire" a fair chance when it came out some years ago. After four or five episodes, I just couldn't see it as being much of a show. However, there was some familiar looking countryside. At least some of the show was filmed in the area around Raton, NM.

Probably numerous police protocol errors in that show, too, but fortunately, they went right past me.
 
Speaking of "Blue Bloods" (haven't watched it in years), is the arrogant, immature, hot-headed detective son of the boss still on the show? He should have been fired in about the second episode of the first season. He ruined the series all by himself. Not even close to entertaining.
 
I watch that show once in a while. Not a fan. As I watch it I have visions of most of the main cast spending the rest of their lives working the night shift at 7-11, trying to pay off the civil suit judgements.(after they get out of jail for the criminal charges!)

Aw, come on now, I know y'all are just binge watching all the mushy new Christmas content on the "Hallmark Channel", right? ;)
 
One hand shooting and walking past everybody behind cover, into the bad guys. 1st 5 and the last 10 min are good. the rest is commercials.
 
Chicago is just bad fiction. It's as far away from real police work as the Tooth Fairy is from being a dentist.

Yeah, but the actress playing his wife left. Good riddance, I thought.

I think he's supposed to personify an ex-Marine from NYC turned detective. Yeah, he's a hotheaded smart alec. Seems likely in New York.

I sorta like the actress who plays his asst. DA sister. She used to
date Tom Brady before he married Gisele Bundchen and has kids by both women.
 
Shows and characters.............

I know some shows make a character dispicable from the beginning so when he goes to prison or is shot or goes through a buncher grinder you are glad, but how about a detestable central character, I was/am a big seinfeld fan, but from the beginning I detested cantstandya castanza, every time he boobed out in some neurotic escapade I cheered and cheered then I laffed and laffed, pretty mature right?

Seems everything that comes out of Hollywood is about brain washing. I suspect that a lot of folks watch Chicago PD and see police officers working both sides of the line and they think that's how the police really are.

I've been watching Adam-12 reruns lately . . . how refreshing those episodes are.

Just Google Chicago PD scandals, even
up to current times, and you'll get an
idea of "how the poiice really are." Yes,
they are the terrible exceptions but
still they exist.

You're probably right, as corrupt as Chicago is and has been for years, corruption begats corruption. Kind of like working in Washington, D.C.
