I'm sure many of you have seen the videos of the rioting, looting and vandalism on two different nites this weekend in Chicago. The mobs stopped traffic including city buses and vandalized cares. It was utter chaos. So my question is this. If people are blocking you from driving away , dancing on your hood and roof as well as trying to set fire to your car, would you be justified in presenting your firearm? Would the bus driver have been justified in pulling a handgun to protect himself his passengers and city property? In my mind this is where things get murky and it shouldn't. I believe most people caught in the middle of that would fear for their safety and their lives. But would the law in a city like Chicago agree?

Not Chicago, but in Travis County an active US Army Sgt was convicted of murder for running down someone who was pointing an AK 47 at him. He was driving for Uber to supplement his salary.

Gov. Abbott has promised to pardon him if the TX board that recommends pardons sends him a recommendation.

The DA in Travis County has stopped prosecuting most crimes in order to prioritize charging police officers and other law abiding citizens whenever he can.

All of which is to say that it's better to avoid cities like Chicago whenever possible.

There is no way anyone could possibly answer your question with any accuracy. It would be my suggestion that a 4,000 pound vehicle is a tactical advantage over a handgun.

What's a better tactical advantage than a 4,000 pound vehicle -OR- a handgun?! That would be... being 75+miles away from the border of Cook County, IL.

That is a poor idea . . .

Maybe there might be a riot in Las Vegas or Reno, but not in the Carson Valley, just South of Carson City. We are kind of old fashioned here, our children are raised right, and we do have guns. Any teenagers here want to riot and cause destruction, their parents will drag them home and give them a good whooping.

As it should be.

I guess my question is. The crowd is stopping you from moving. People are banging on your car and trying to open your doors. What are you supposed to do? Running over a bunch of people is not the answer. So what to do?

My daughter is having a procedure at NW next Tuesday morning so we are going up Monday afternoon. The hotel is across the street from the hospital.

Situational awareness, as always, is critical.
An important part of SA is knowing not only the laws but who will be applying or disregarding them.
Politically motivated malicious prosecution and refusal to press charges is real and becoming more common.
Remember, you can't fight city hall.
