Where were those "Mothers against Krogers" or what ever they call themselves who do not want to see a legally armed person shopping in Krogers. If one of them Mothers or their children had been involved and gotten hurt you would hear them whistling a different tune today.

As far as those signs in the widow saying no firearms they can take them down and put them in the rest room where maybe they can do some good.

I heard the FL recently passed a warning shot bill. Might have been useful in this situation. I have thought about carrying one of those blank guns along with my G26. They used to make one that looked like a 25 auto and was double action.

I would not waste limited ammo on a warning shot. One shoots to stop the threat, and whether the offender lives or dies is at best a very small issue and NMFP. In this setting, "Roadhouse Rules", I think. I try like heck to avoid stupid places. There are places I would only go in uniform when I was in LE and I simply don't go to them now (fortunately, I don't live in that county any longer and avoid it as much as I can). However, there are people who have to live in or near stupid places, and may not have a choice.

If one can't avoid a place like that, and ends up in that scenario, my preference would be a squad with an M2 and a flamethrower. Since I won't have access to that group of tough young men and their gear, I will have to compromise. I have transitioned to the point that my prior EDC (G33 and a spare magazine, my old BUG) has been replaced by the pistol referenced in the base post and a spare magazine. On those occasions when I can't conceal that due to environment and clothes, I go back to the G33.

I must respectfully disagree with the above. You have a much better chance calling 911 and staying on scene after being forced to shoot someone. GWK4667 hit it on the head. Call 911, when you make the call, stated that you were in fear for your life so it's recorded. Then make the statement that GWK4667 said, "Officer, I will cooperate fully with your investigation, however I would like to speak with my attorney first".

There have been documented convictions of armed citizens who rightfully used force, fled the scene and did not come forward.

These incidents have been happening all along. It's a game. Search this forum on flash mobs, knock out king, beat downs, etc. Or for that matter Google the internet on the same search criteria. Heck even state fairs like in Des Moines, Iowa had a incident as well as the state fair in Wisconsin back in 2011. We had one in Columbia, MO a couple of years ago. We did get downtown cameras after a hard battle. Now they scream that Big Brother is watching you.

It would be suicide to take on a mob of 115 by yourself. You may take a bunch down, but if they don't scatter and stop the attack you are most likely dead meat. Dial 911 and pray like hell you don't have to take on the mob alone. When the sign says vehicles stop for pedestrians in the crosswalk, if the 18 wheeler is coming down the road with no brakes at a top speed and laying on the air horns, you best not step into the crosswalk. All you will be is legally dead right. Pick your battles carefully.

While I think carrying a high capacity pistol would be quite useful in such a target rich environment the chances of being in such a crazy situation simply do not warrant causing all of us J-frame daily packers to change. There is no telling what will happen if you open fire with your 5 shot pistola but the usual mob mentality is to cut and run in the face of lethal force. If they don't then you get 5 and they get you but that's a reality I can live with on a regular basis in order to not have to carry a large, high capacity, hard to conceal handgun.

Okay, while the general rule is that if you KNOW you're going to a fight you bring your longarm, if you KNOW you're going to be in a crazy environment that could produce a mob by all means bring your high-cap anything. I've been known to pack a high-cap SIG or S&W along with my J-frame if I head somewhere that could be a problem. But unless I think such a situation could exist the J-frame will do.

I've been to Memphis - I did NOT know it was that bad. I was in the area around Graceland, we ate on Beale Street, we went to the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel. Next time I go I might change the firepower......now that I am armed with such amazing information!

This is the reason I carry. I am an old man, and I am already
living on borrowed time. Nope If encountered with being beat down I plan to go down with my handguns empty, and my guns blazing. Some of them will run but I would at least thin out some of them. I refuse to live in fear and cringe without responding to such an attack. I do think however that the
poor teenagers would be portrayed as unarmed choir boys who had never been in trouble. I do think though if I ever had to
go back to Memphis (I live in Texas now), I would carry two
semi automatics and several 15 round magazines instead of
my two revolvers.

I can tell you that about 5 miles from where you were in Graceland that Getwell area is pretty rough with shots fired every night, where I used to have a client I supported but
terminated due to it being dangerous. As for the Loraine Motel area, that area too is quite dangerous especially at night or used to be. Also had an employee that was drug behind her purse in the late 80's not that far from the Loraine Motel.
