Chief Special Saturday

OP you stole those Uncle Mikes boot grips, seen them on Ebay for $50+/-. Anything much bigger defeats pocket carry.

I have a set of the Hogues I was thinking on putting on my 36 but after comparing they are almost the same size as the wood targets it's wearing now. The woods have a sharper corner on the rear of the butt and would be a little harder to conceal otherwise they really feal great and make it a pleasure to shoot.

Here is my old nickel 36. I had to put those ugly grips on it because it beat the hell out of my middle finger with the original grips. It doesn't go out much anymore since I got a smoking deal on a used Cobra. That silly extra round and lighter weight got my attention.

I have a set of those Hogue Bantams, as well ( I had to Google them to be sure). They're OK, but honestly, they don't feel much different than the factory Airweight grips, to me.
I had a set of the rosewood laminate Pachmayr grips, and they definitely provided a better, fuller grip, but they were pretty plump for concealable pocket carry, and after years in my parts drawer,I recently sold them.

I never really consider recoil an issue on a .38 special...
I am not recoil sensative with .38s or .357 or 45 ACP from a revolver, but the geometery of the trigger guard and the placement of my knuckle just didn't jive. The rubber grip lowers the finger placement sufficiently to avoid the issue. Get a little arthritis in you old joints and you will make changes as required. ;)
