The Chinese seem to be in a very odd position. They need to sell the world stuff as that is what they do well. However, they only get paper for much of that, they can't eat it, or live in it and now it looks like it may not even hold its paper value. They can't stop producing and selling abroad, so what to do with the money they make? Copper makes sense, the worldwide economy is down, so prices on commodities are also down. Assuming the world economy doesn't stay down indefinitely those commodities will surely rise in value as demand rises. Also, the Chinese use enormous quantities of "stuff" (not all of their crap is literally made from crap).
I have been thinking of doing some similar things myself, so far all I have come up with is gathering wheel weights, I just can't keep my mind on business.
