Well folks, i bought my first nickel. Reading up on how to care for it. Seams to be in pretty nice shape, will clean it up and apply some Ren Wax. No box or papers $775.00 out the door. It was just too pretty to pass up. Maybe over paid a bit, but that should even out in a couple years.

More that a fair price for that beauty in todays market. I prefer semi-chrome to Flitz because it is easier to work with. Then the Renaissance Wax. Try Howards polish/wax on the grips. It was recommended to me on another post. If you take it out in the sunshine after that, wear sunglasses or you'll go blind.........

That appears to be a well cared for Model 19-3. For $775, I think you did well given today's inflation. I'd recommend a good cleaning with a mild solvent like Hoppe's No.9 first. If you plan to shoot it, I would not worry too much about polishing, just oil or wax. If you plan on it being more of a display piece, then hand polish gently with Flitz or Semi-Chrome paste, Mother's aluminum and mag wheel polish will also work, then Renaissance Wax.

Simichrome is a finer grade abrasive than Flitz. Not by much tho.

If you can find WENOL, in the blue tube ( German manufacture) not the Red squeeze tube.
Real good polish , maybe better than Simichrome.

will Flitz or Simichrome remove fouling and cylinder burn
It will, but remember, it is a mild abrasive. Go gently as you do not want to start removing the finish. When it comes to burn rings, they happen every time you shoot the revolver, so I do not bother removing them from my revolvers.
