Can anybody tell me how to wire up Christmas tree lights to my 48 volt Yamaha golf cart? I want to outline the entire cart with lights, my grandkids would love it.

Best I could figure you would need 12volt, low voltage lights.
Think garden, landscape lights..
And go down instead of UP!! ( anything for the grand kids!!):D:D:D

HoHoHo, be careful if your not using a cigarette lighter plug.

6 volt batteries

Most golf carts that I have seen run several 6 volt batteries in series to create the 48 volts.

It is just a matter of connecting your wiring so that you can get 12 volts from two of the batteries in the series to power your lights.

This is a simple matter to accomplish with a basic voltmeter and some basic wiring skills You will attach your ground lead to the main chassis ground and your power tap will likely be at the positive terminal on the second battery in the series.. Use a voltmeter to verify that your tap location is indeed 12 volts. Be sure to place a fuse in the line to protect your wiring.

Good luck in your wiring project.

After pimping your ride, you then drive down here to Florida. It's all the rage!!:)

Oh no. Not another one! Got plenty of those, particularly the ones piloted by the people who the State will not let drive real cars anymore. Then there's the two neighborhood denizens that kitted out their bicycles to look like the one in Men in Black. Seeing one when walking the dog at 0500 is bad enough, but the second one makes you wonder about your sanity. Even Binky was confused by the second sighting. There's gotta be an Elmore Leonard or Carl Hiassen story there somewhere...

Not in PTC, Flowery Branch/Braselton area. There are a few miles of cart paths in this area. My Yamaha has four batteries in line.

For a local parade I bought LEDS. They have USBplugs on them. Will hook up to my jump battery that has two USB ports. Lights will run almost two hours on the jump battery.

7 years ago, one of my crew used a 12 volt inverter and wired his Jeep with 110 volt lights. The Local PD gave him a warning because of red and blue lights are reserved for emergency vehicles, A day later he was running with White lights and the same officer ticketed him. He fought the ticket in the county court (Municipal Court) instead of Mayor's court. The judge found my guy not guilty, and said the colored lights were permissible, court cost were on the small town! The officer was let go the next spring for several harassment complaints!

Actually most new carts use six 8 volt batteries.
