Cigar Thread

A10, my only advise is.....be prepared to become addicted to cigars.

I've tried to be in rehab for a couple of years now........But it doesn't work.

I tried the 12 step program...but I've found it is only 11 steps to the cigar store.

As mentioned, the sample packs might be a good way to start, if you're going to order by internet.....

Surely there is a cigar store in your area, that might help.....In my area, about 26 miles to town, there's a couple of stores, I can go and try their "Nubs" of various makes......Good deal!!!!!!

I have a passion for cigars. I find them relaxing and a great way to unwind at the end of the day. It's 'me' time.

Agreed! To hang at the local cigar lounge - you'll learn a lot. A good cigar is the one you like. Try a few different ones you'll find your niche.

Lighting, cutting and all the fancy nuances you'll learn from many publications or hanging around cigar lounges or stores.

Don't buy into the "Only Cuban cigars are any good" hype. I travel all over the world, a lot, and have ample access to the best Cuba has to offer. Some are great, some are good, some are not. They aren't magic...only the US embargo makes them seem so, the whole "forbidden fruit" allure. You'll find great smokes from places other than the communist island. Do some reading and see what cigars are out there.

I love smoking a cohiba while sipping a can of ice cold diet coke... Heaven :)

I see there is a lot of learning to do on my part! Might hit a cigar store or two on the way to the house tonight......

I like buying small cigars, I have plenty enough of cigar after 1 hour of smoking. So I prefer investing money in a little good one then buying some huge roll for the same amount

Well done!

Lotsa great info herein...

I personally prefer my cigars "punched" rather than "cut."

In a pinch (and when traveling) I use a golf tee rather than a correct punch. Find them cooler burning (if that's not contradictory) when punched.

JR Tobacco is a useful source, too. Great online service and fabulous outlets if anyone is in/near North Carolina.

One main rule for me: No expensive cigars when on the golf course; ALWAYS leave them on the back of the cart and you can guess what happens every time.

Be safe.

It's a tough one to find and they ain't cheap but a Graycliff hand rolled in Nassau Bahamas is a legal Cuban for bringing back ot the US, they don't say it but it's pretty obvious. Professional Blue PG is a nice one if you can find it.

What's your favorite cigar folks?

You got the sampler. That is the best way to learn. When you are ready for a humidor, let me know. I am down sizing. Look for the Habano forum in Australia, they rate them all, Cuban and non Cuban, and the cigars are like wine, some years are better than other.
