Is there a safe way to clean MOP grips? Do they absorb gun oil? If so, can it be taken out? Your thoughts!

From what I understand MOP is relatively fragile and brittle and using harsh cleaning agents is NOT good. The two methods I have heard about are as follows:
1) use a diluted solution of water and mild dish washing soap then blot with a Microfiber cloth to dry.
2) A small amount of Olive Oil on a Microfiber cloth blotted dry, then polished with a clean silk rag.
NOTE: These are methods I have read and heard about. I do not personally own MOP and so I have never tried either of these methods. While they seem sensible to me, I am only passing on what I have read - no personal experience. I would have hoped that someone that actually owns a set would have chimed in, but since there has been no response thus far, I just wanted to tell you what I have heard.
