I've never heard that and I have a couple of Smith 1911's. Others may chime in but I think your "acquaintance" is trying to get a better price.;) JMHO.

Yeah, I have heard they have huge reliability and wear problems and are an absolute danger to anyone who shoots them so I, being a good responsible forum member, will take that troublesome S&W 1911 off your hands and I'll even pay the shipping.....Just kidding on the first part part :)

My 1911 E Series Scandium Frame model is holding up very nicely and has been the absolute most reliable 1911 I have owned. It is so nice, I have cleaned out 2 of my other 1911s to make room (and free up funds) for a new Performance Center 1911 which should be be here very soon (i hope).

If you are going to sell it, put it up on the forum here and the guys will give you a very fair price for it (or, if you are in IL, PM me and we'll work something out :) ) There are a few of them on gunbroker.com to get a "market" price figured out.

Good luck!

I wouldn't consider the individual you mention should be considered a friend anytime soon. Why......he's full of s##t. I presently have two Colts 1911's (Govt & Defender) and have been around Colts for a long time and this guy is trying to pull a fast one on you. Others will chime in on your specifics (I.e. Questions). Shoot and enjoy a fine weapon.

I don't own one yet, but as soon as Bud's has one in the low $900s, I will. You can use the Search function at the top of this forum and search for '108282' and you'll have your answer.

I disagree with the potential buyer. I've called S&W, searched the Internet, and read a lot about them and have not found any information that supports the statements which you received. The information that I have is that it's a very reliable 1911. Some don't like the ambidextrous safety and extermal extractor, but each to his own.

I'd like a 108299 (blue with BOMAR rear sights) but it's not available. My option is the 108284 which is the stainless steel version.

That's the 108282. I need the 108284 with the adjustable BOMAR rear sight. "Kentucky windage" just doesn't work for me any more. I have one on the wish list at Bud's Police Supply for $792.00 IF they ever have any more available in my life time.

Thanks for the reminder and information!

OK Bill, thought we were talking about the 108282. I wasn't sure you were aware of the "other" Buds.
