I just dropped my old point and shoot camera while the lens was extended and now The lens wont stay out. They don't make my old camera anymore. So I don't have a good camera on my flip phone either. I want something for $150 or less that will take decent close ups of my hand guns, long guns and such. Something I can transfer the pictures to my computer also. Any Ideas? Thanks.

There are a number of good point and shoots from the usual suspects like Canon, Nikon , Sony, etc.
Another possibility is to upgrade your phone.
The newer smartphone cameras are pretty good point and shoot cameras.
And for lots of us, becoming the camera of choice, because it’s there when you need it.
Like I told the folks at the Golden, NM church- I’m going to take some pictures.
I don’t have my big camera, but I got my little camera.
iPhone.

Yes your right. Its time to update phones. I was worried I'd drop it or something. The flip phone is cheap and I know the smartphones are way more expensive. I'll work it in my budget if I can. S.S. retirement is all about planning ahead. Thanks

Nice photo. You might consider writing for the NM state travel magazine, if you have literary talent.

You don't have to buy the "newest model" cellphone that's being offered. They are the most expensive models and have have all the new stuff. I'm just one guy here but here's what I did.
I bought a Samsung S5 for $200. I didn't want to spend the money on the S8 or did I want to learn all that newer stuff. It was brand new in the box when I bought it. It has a great camera, changeable battery and it's pretty easy to operate. They are available and easy to find. Works for me

I now use my phone on my IPhone - but previously I would go to say Best Buy or Walmart, where they had working models.
Take a dime out and then take a picture in natural light. You don't need to save it, so you don't need a capture card.
Then once you find a model that works as close up, good lighting, you like, buy it...

My son just bought a refurbished iPhone 5 for ~$120 off Amazon.

I think it was ChattanoogaPhil who recently posted some of his gun pix taken with an iPhone 5. They were really quite good. Yep. Check out his pictures here: http://smith-wessonforum.com/lounge/533310-crummy-cell-phone-pics.html?highlight=photography

Amazing how cheap good point and shoot cameras are these days. That Cannon Snubby is showing is a good little camera. (And I bet the one JJH is offering is too.)

I just took this with my Canon PowerShot Elph 180. 'Bout $110 at Amazon.com

It's 20MP and takes 720P video.
Thanks for the pictures. I actually looked at your camera today on line. I'm glad to see what it does as I didn't think it would be so clear pictures. Right now I think this fits my budget and I will get a better phone at a latter time. Thanks again

So now you have a point n use-to-shoot :)

Don't feel bad, I turned my on and the lens went out and
stayed out...hammer time!

You're welcome.
I took that picture under my work bench light.

It suites my needs just fine.
