I used this stuff all my life in the machine shop. I had some left over from years ago and used it to polish the sticky expander insert in my lee powder thru die now the case comes out easier without that jerking motion.

Actually that is silicon carbide grit. It can embed itself in the bore when fire lapping. Better to use Aluminum Oxide grit, also sold by Clover.

Ya gotta be careful and know the composition of abrasives before you use it in critical high friction areas.....always ask questions that's how we learn.

Scrapper - I had the same issue with the powder though expands (Lee) in all calibers and finally took them apart, polished with some worn out 400 wet paper and then polished with a Dremel wheel with rouge. Now there is no hanging up at all.

tomf52 - Yeah I hear that loud and clear. I guess Lee saved us some money by leaving the rough turned finish on it. But nonetheless I'm happy with lee tools. I bought a classic turret for a friend of mine this Christmas and he loves the thing....he's doing mostly 9mm luger and a few 38 special.

hsguy - I read that also.

I found that using my set-up and keeping the internal parts of the die dry (using Hornady's Dry Lube) at the end of my loading there is no powder loss anywhere inside or outside the die. When it was jerking the case would rattle (460 S&W Mag) and there was a possibility of a bit of powder would jump out the case being that that particular load filled the case very close to the top.

Also as you can see the press stand will sure rock a wee bit while under pressure, but I found that I like this combo as it is very strong and portable. I can also mount other equipment to it. It's actually made for 2 press applications at the same time.
