Coated Bullets In 9mm

I shoot the Bayou bullets, 120 grain TC in my Sig x-5. Great accuracy, no leading, shoot very clean. The gun club required shooting jacketed or coated - went with the coated as they are more cost effective.

Seating is always critical with the 9, shooting 3.8 BE with a 1.10 seated depth. Works fine in my gun.

The MBC's 125gr conical in 9mm, the 230gr Softball & 200gr RNFP in 45acp have always worked great for me: my comments identical with those before me...

Cheers!

Anything specific you want to know? I have reloaded a fewl thousand coated bullets. I have PCed most but have purchased some, mebbe 1,000 Hi-Tek coated for 9mm and 45 ACP. I've used them in my 380 ACP, 9mm, 38/357, 44 Special/Magnum, 45 Colt, 45 ACP, and 3, 30 cal rifles (308 got red, 7.65x54r got green, and 303 got black). They are clean shooting, as good accuracy as the base bullet, and clean handling. Most of my PCed/coated bullets are loaded with cast lead data and often at the higher end of the lead data.

For some PCing your own can be tedious and time consuming, but for me it was part of my casting, reloading, shooting fun. Learning the finer points about home PCing took a little time (that very fine powder gets everywhere, in every corner of the shop, and it doesn't wipe off your hands with a dry rag!) and gathering equipment may be costly if you buy new. I started out with a cool whip tub, some Harbor Freight powder and an old toaster oven I used for pan lubing. Then, as usual, I started "improving" my coating and bought about 4 different, quality powders, made some coating trays, and bought an electro-static spraying outfit...

Just curious, if I can load coated for less than fmj and still get decent performance, that is what I will do. I haven't cast my own for 30 years and don't see me getting back into that.

I just started shooting HiTek coated bullets this year in both 9mm and 40sw. About 1500 rounds or so. I've used both Missouri Bullet Company and Brazos. MBC are harder, but Brazos is cheaper. I think coated is worth the extra cost.

Its all I shoot in my various 9mm. I make my own but if I buy, DG bullets are very good, good price, quick shipping.

Only problem I've had with leading and Hi-tek was with SNS and Titegroup. Switching to Sport Pistol (or Blue bullets) cleared it up. Accuracy is on par with Berry's.

I find that 9mm bullets from Hoosier Bullets are excellent, shoot great and cheap. Really impressed with them and shipping is actually same day. Wallacem in Ga
