Anybody know anything about Coca Cola stuff? I just bought this 36"X20" cardboard poster marked copyright 1955 The Coca Cola Co. at an estate sale five houses down from mine. $85. The colors in it are magnificent and it's the real deal no doubt in my mind. I have an idea this might have been a fairly profitable day.

Don't know about the value of the poster (nice looking too) but I remember when the king size bottles came out, I thought they were HUGE. Thanks for the memory jog.

What you have appears to be a sign used to advertise inside a city bus. There were panels toward the ceiling in these old buses that held various ads. This appears to be one. You could probably double or triple your money. If it were mine I would frame it under glass to protect it and hang it where direct sunlight wouldn't hit it.

Sheepdawg,

I took the liberty of forwarding your picture to a friend that is one of the top soda bottle/sign collectors in the country. (He has written the book on bottles). He doesn't specialize in Coco-Cola, but is knowledgeable on the subject.

His response:
It looks real to me. I've not seen reproductions of this one, although when it comes to Coca-Cola, fakes are always a possibility. The 20" x 36" size is correct, as is the year 1955. These paper banners fit into a wooden frame, and that's what probably caused the roughness I see along the bottom edge.

The Sprite boy was discontinued in 1957-1958.

The latest price guide I have is Petretti's eighth edition from 1992. At that point it was listed at $65. That would probably be at least $100 today.

I don't have my Coca-Cola book handy but $100 minimum does sound about right.

Jimmy, the bottles weren't necessarily bottled in the city on the bottom. It was common for bottling plants to order a mixture of bottles with different city names.

I loaded delivery trucks at the Pepsi Cola bottling plant in Little Rock back in the late '70's during the summer months. Over time I'd acquired two cases of newly bottled original vintage 10 oz Pepsi's and stored them away in my dad's barn knowing they'd be worth something someday. Frankly, I'd forgotten about them.

Not long ago something caused me to remember those old bottles and I called up my dad and asked about them. He chuckled and said he figured one day I was going to come around and ask about them. Apparently, my younger brother ran across them not long after I stored them in the barn, and little brothers being little brothers, put 'em on ice and took them to the lake with several of his buddies. He even turned in the bottles and kept the 10 cent deposit.

So much for my teenage investment strategy.

Coca Cola collectables can be super valuable to zilch depending. Advertising signs, trays, tin and cardboard signs are the most collected. I dont know the value of yours, but google it and places selling thye same or close to it--should show up for you. I did that with a tin can collection I have, found each was worth appx $20-$60.

I have 3 or 4 of the little coke bottles that pull apart and have a cigarette lighter inside. Send me enough money and I will sell them to you
