Need some help from my fellow coffee addicts here. Was grinding some coffee this afternoon and my trusty grinder groaned and finally gave up the ghost.

Does anybody have a recommendation for a burr grinder? Looking for something that has a good grind capacity, widely adjustable grind and quieter than your basic Boeing 747.

I've had a Baratza Vario for 10 plus years, it works great...but I can't exactly say it's quiet. I recently called the company to see if it was time to change the burrs...they told me no, still had a couple of years to go. :D

I use this every morning. It helps me wake up to enjoy a cup. Even works when I am without power and the grind in infinitely adjustable. I don't think this model is available any longer, but if you can find one, they are great.

My mother bought one of those crank grinders back around 1959-60. She bought it at an auction and I was with her. I have it now.

Put that baby to use! Then there will be at least two in use and only maybe 60 mi. apart.
I bought this one as an antique about 40 some years ago. Got the bug to try it out about a decade ago and it has served me quite well ever since. It helps even moderate coffee taste pretty good, and the good stuff is excellent.

Ha! Don't think that'd work for me. First off, I'd never have the energy to crank it before my first cup. Even if did I'd worry for my fingers in a groggy condition. I'd be down to stumps before I even realized I was in trouble.

Cuisinart
Been using if for unknown number of years. Never an issue. It is a tad loud, We grind after dinner. Not gonna wake up to that!
