Col. Bud Anderson is 100 years old!

Colonel Clarence E. "Bud" Anderson...P-51 Mustang pilot...the only living triple fighter ace...the guy Chuck Yeager called the best fighter pilot he'd ever seen...is 100 years old today!

Col. Anderson's autobiography, "To Fly and Fight", is a terrific look at the Greatest Generation...how they grew up...how they viewed the war and their role in it...great reading, highly recommended.

His website is chock-full of information, photos, stories, and of course, autographed photos and copies of his book for sale...

I was inspired by his book years ago. Happy Birthday, Colonel!

I got to meet Col. Anderson at Oshkosh in 2014. He gave an hour-long talk about his war service and flying the P-51. he spoke in front of a large screen which showed pictures taken during combat, while escorting B-17's, pictures of many of the other aces he flew with and some other amazing combat footage. Truly a hero, warrior and part of The Greatest Generation.

He was my Wing Commander in Thailand.
That's Col. Anderson in the White Party Suit.

I have a hand drawn picture of his P-51 and Chuck Yeager's. The artist did 100 of them,I got two. The other I gave to a man who owned a men's clothing store in my hometown. He had been a navigator on a B-24 or B-25 in the Pacific. The bottom is signed by both Anderson and Yeager.
