I have some 19-3, two of which are 4” blue. Same exact thing.
Also doubling up on a 29-2 blue in 6.5… and will be several others…
I’ve learned this is certainly a thing with folks.
How many of you have doubled up even tripled or more and have several of exactly the same model, barrel length, finish and variant?
How many carbon copies does one need to be “done”?
I’m eyeing up a 25-5, a couple of 27-2 and several 29-2s.. carbon copies of what I already have, but am drawn to wanting more… especially they look:
1) Nicer than the what I have
2) Like a great deal
3) Like a real beater that is way cheaper but has some worn character that you can shoot without worrying about the finish.
I have come to the conclusion, that at least for the foreseeable future, there is no end to accumulation/collecting, whether you already have what you want or not.
And there is no telling yourself not to want something. If you want it, you want it..
I need to take a lesson in patience again as an adult.

So far, I have only one pair of twins, both being S&W Model 645's. One is a former LEO issue sidearm and has some scars, the other looks like it was bought, shot a little, then cleaned and put away.

well.. have had quite a few pairs in the past.. even a couple of sequential serial number pairs long ago.. but my record is 5 of a kind.. lol.. FEG PA-63 in 9x18 Makarov... 3 were a buy 2 get one free kinda deal.. the free one was a parts gun.. but after inspection it was fixed with a 2 dollar part.. not quite free, but close.. have given most of them to friends & family..20180510_191617.jpg

I have only a few multiples, depending on how you count. I have three 686 7shot snubbies. Two Makarovs. Two 696s. But I also have several .45 autos of various types, several Chiefs Specials and several Detective Specials of various vintages. Three Colt hammerless .32 autos of various ages. It depends a lot on what you call "the same."

I have no duplicates and never have had any and don’t plan on buying any. Why not leave them for someone else to buy and enjoy? It’s your money and you can spend it any way you like but I’d rather put mine into a wide variety of interesting toys.

First one I bought because I wanted it. The previous owner filed the strain screw and it would not detonate the primers. While it was at S&W I found the second one at a bargain price. Not sure but the third just happened!
In the past I have bought a gun. NIB and rather than fire it I will purchase another that has been fired

Offhand, I don't have any duplicates except for a brace of original .45/c Vaqueros that were my main match, cowboy action pistols, and, presently, two Walther CCP 9mms but one of them is supposed to go to my lady if she can handle it. If not I just might keep it.

But I have an awful lot of similar guns, just because............ :)

I own a pair of Ruger LCRs; one I carry daily, and one I regularly practice with (the whole “two is one” thing).

In terms of S&Ws, I only have two pairs of duplicates:

I purchased a second 2” 10-5, because it’s a model I really enjoy shooting, and I wanted a spare.

I purchased a second pre-War 2” M&P because I came across one at a price too good to pass up, and I was able to “justify” the purchase because the second featured the earlier small, left-side S&W logo.

I'm squarely in the accumulator camp. If I see something of even slight interest at a great price I will usually buy it if it fits into my caliber framework. I don't buy oddball stuff. Then if I'm not interested enough in it I consider it trade material. And in a SHTF scenario it could easily be traded for food or fuel...

I had a few 45 autos but the only one I really liked was the 645. If one comes up on an auction it mine.
