Last year, we had a thread on the College (NCAA) baseball tournament (from here to Omaha), starting with the regionals and going on through the super regionals, and then on through college world series in Omaha.

Conference tournaments are winding up today, and the NCAA field will be announced soon. Anyone interested in a similar thread this year? I am working fairly regularly these days, and unsure how much I will be able to participate, but I will try to contribute some and get it started if there is interest.

We like our College Baseball down here in the south. But the NCAA field will not be limited to the south. I think Oregon State won it all last year. I think the regionals start this coming weekend. What about it?

I was going to start one tomorrow after the field of 64 was announced. I'm glad you got us kicked off and now we can roll with it. I'm pulling for those Fighting Tigers of LSU.

Hopefully they have done enough to host a regional, if not it's hit the road as #2 seed. Our pitching is thin due to injuries and the hitting is inconsistent.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the season and we'll see what happens. You are right Oregon State beat Arkansas last year for the championship. Can anyone say pop up?

GEAUX TIGERS!!!!

Your tigers have gotten the best of my Mississippi State Bulldogs this year (think you have won 3 out of 5), winning the series in Starkville, and then embarrassing us the other night in the conference tournament. But my Bulldogs do deserve a national seed. I just hope they do not match up our tournament with whatever tournament LSU is in for the Super Regional. We have had a great baseball rivalry with LSU over the years, but y'all really got cranked up and going in the 90s.

Tell you what - I will plan to officially start the thread later tonite or maybe tomorrow, and name it "From Here to Omaha - 2019", and if you want to follow up with a posting of the field, that will be fine (particularly since I am unsure as how to post!).

I have been following the softball tourney, too. I was watching when Texas's Miranda Elish got drilled in the face and sent to the hospital. One replay was all I could handle.

Glad I didn't see that.

I love college baseball and softball. The University of Louisville has a very strong baseball program, and they play in a gem of a stadium.

Of course, my very favorite baseball is the Little League World Series. The level of play is great, and the level of sportsmanship is better.

Been watching the college softball, all the teams are now set for the World Series. Umpired softball for 30 years and just can't let it go.
Since the LSU Lady Tigers were bounced from the super regionals in two games courtesy of the Minnesota Lady Gophers I'm now a Gopher fan. Congratulations to that program for what will be their first trip to the World Series.

I hope they meet the dreaded "BAMA" and kick some Crimson Tide @%&.

I feel the same way. I've seen enough of your Bulldogs to last until next year. We came up short in that 17 inning affair but two nights later were able to run rule the Bulldogs right out of Hoover.

Good luck the rest of the way and hope our teams don't cross paths again.

My team, the Oklahoma State Cowboys won the Big Twelve Tournament today and our girls softball team knocked off the defending national champs Florida State to go to the college world series that we have right here where I live in Oklahoma City. So I'm pretty jacked about the post season in both sports and if anyone likes softball or pretty girls or both I invite you to come to World series here, its a lot of fun with great seats that don't cost a lot.

I am in the Omaha area if anyone ends up here following their team and needs a restaurant recommendation while in town... I haven't been to the CWS since I was probably 13(??) and won tickets as a paperboy... was at Rosenblatt back then... the new place may be great, but I hated to see it move... but money talks in college sports... nuff said... just not as special anymore without Dingerville... it is just another 2 weeks I avoid downtown Omaha... other time is the Berkshire weekend...

Yes, Rosenblatt should still be standing and the lack of home runs diminishes the game somewhat for me. A player should be rewarded for their ability to hit a home run rather than watching it become a long fly out. The fence at the new park is a little too far back for most college players.

I would like to see the fence moved in or the bats changed a little more to resemble the old ones. Even though the ball has changed the new park definitely favors the pitcher.

Oklahoma has won 2 of the last 3 softball national titles and are the favorites to win it this year. With both Oklahoma schools being in it this year its going to be a tough ticket in OKC.

My fifth-seeded Tar Heels won the ACC Championship yesterday over second seed Georgia Tech, and now we'll be hosting an NCAA regional in Chapel Hill. Coach Mike Fox's 18th regional in 21 years!

GO HEELS!
