quote-------------The solution proposed by "leading accredited scientists" was to make CO2 generators-----------quote

Quote an accredited source on that otherwise its wild propaganda put out so that greed monger industrialists can continue to pollute the world until they kill everyone.

I do not think you even understood your own information. The engineers did propose a possible solution when the pollution got so bad people were dying like flies but the whole plan was just a future proposal and no such giant generators were ever built let alone in the thousands and thousands it would take to do any good and if we stopped polluting would that not be the better route to take.

quote-----------There is global warming. The real question is how much mankind is contributing to it.--------quote

That is like saying if the polluters cause you to end up wearing an oxygen mask for the rest of your short life its an acceptable trade off to enable the blind greed of the industrialists to continue.

Several years now the dry summer months both in the U.S. and Canada has created so many wild fires and so much smoke pollution that it is killing older people and causing health problems in the very young. The Middle Age people will just take a little more time to die of cancer or heart failure.

First you people denied Global Warming even existed and then when the overwhelming Scientific evidence proved it now you have fallen back to stage two propaganda that the pollution isn't really as bad as they say it is. Take a look at this summer if you think this is anywhere remotely normal weather. And your air conditioning bills in summer and your heating bills in winter are reaching record levels. I would think the economic impact would at least get your attention.
Good forest management would go a long way in preventing a lot of those fires, but the tree huggers don't want that, got to protect some 3 eyed snails, let nature take it's course they say. Well, they are getting their wish. Nature is doing what it does. Nature operates in extremes. How many extinctions happened before humans were even here?
The EU has almost no A/C's, to help fight global warming. 10's of thousands of people die each year from heat exhaustion, because they don't have A/C's. One volcano eruption in Iceland wiped out 10 years' worth of carbon reductions in Europe. 10 years of high taxes and extreme restrictions, all for nothing except the "environmentalists" profiting.
Oh, but decreasing the population is a goal of the woke left, so you're probably ok with that....

I owned two successful businesses, one with 17 employees [ investigators ]. The other a brick and mortar ffl selling firearms [ 5 employees ]. They received hourly pay, took the job at the pay scale I offered and if they'd asked me to share my profits they could go find another job.

When I worked for the PI, after 5 years I asked for a raise, he told me no. I started my own agency and doubled the hourly rate for the same work load. Equal share of the pie you say? That sounds like socialism, not capitalism from where I'm sitting
You are speaking of a small business not a large corporation that employees hundreds and even thousands of workers. When those workers form a Union they have the right to bargain for a livable wage and benefits.

Your type of job is for retirees looking for a few bucks in extra income or a person just out of High School who has no work experience yet. Most will go on to a decent paying jobs with benefits the first chance they get. If they do not go on to a professional job or get advanced training or education later then that is their choice to work for way less with no benefits or security or retirement. They will learn unfortunately that those types of jobs are the first to lay off people during economic down turns. In years past we called them 'dead end jobs" or temporary summer jobs.

I remember on pitiful older lady that was dying of throat cancer and asked the boss if she could carry her medical insurance for a few months more if she paid for it and he told her no. Right in front of the boss I blew up and told her he was breaking state law and to see a lawyer and sue the hell out of this jerk. I then quit and drove her down to see my lawyer. It was one of the proudest days of my life.

Your line of thinking is that if we had a flood that wiped out a village than why bother to pass a law demanding Socialism like the Army Corp of Engineers not bother to build a damn or use other water management systems to prevent it from happening in the future.

And if man was not polluting the atmosphere it would be that much less if we did have a volcanoes that did pollute the atmosphere severely.

I find it laughable that you are trying to blame another culture for not buying more air conditioners and if you had ever been to Europe they are laughing at you because they do indeed have air conditioners for those that want them. It is true only on average 20% of Europeans have air conditioners because in the past their summers were not nearly as hot as they are now but things are changing there and changing fast. That is the beauty of a Parliamentary Government they can change things fast and get things done far faster than our system of Government that is why they are years ahead of us in fighting Global Warming.

And by not doing your research and falling for propaganda web sites you fell right into this one.

Iceland volcano causes fall in carbon emissions as eruption grounds aircraft

Cooling effect from volcano ash cloud will be 'very insignificant', but flight ban stops emission of estimated 2.8m tonnes of CO2

The eruption of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano is unlikely to have any significant impact on climate but has caused a small fall in carbon emissions, experts say.

Although large eruptions such as Mount Pinatubo in 1991 can spew out enough material to shade and cool the planet, recent activity in Iceland is very small in comparison. The ash cloud has not reached the high atmosphere, where it would have the most effect, and it contains little sulphur, which forms reflective droplets of sulphuric acid. The World Meteorological Organization in Geneva says any cooling effect from Eyjafjallajokull will be "very insignificant".

A larger effect on the atmosphere, though still small in global terms, comes from the mass-grounding of European flights over the past few days. According to the Environmental Transport Association, by the end of today the flight ban will have prevented the emission of some 2.8m tonnes of carbon dioxide since the first flights were grounded.

The volcanic eruption has released carbon dioxide, but the amount is dwarfed by the savings. Based on readings taken by scientists during the first phase of Eyjafjallajokull activity last month, the website Information is Beautiful calculated the volcano has emitted about 150,000 tonnes of CO2 each day. Worldwide, the US Geological Survey says volcanoes produce about 200m tonnes of carbon dioxide every year.

First, I didn't hire retirees for PI work. Nor at the gun shop. All the investigators were in their late 20's into their 30's. And working as a PI is a professional job that can lead to very good money and all the overtime they want.

When I worked for the PI that wouldn't give me a raise, it wasn't a dead end job. I worked 5 years for the guy and only needed 3 to get my own ticket. It's the nature of the work, work hard, make the contacts, start your own agency. That's not a dead end job by any stretch of the imagination, it's a profession that can make someone a LOT of money. How much money? 1K a week with the overtime in 1977 [ for the guy I worked for ].

I also had armed and unarmed guard divisions that made quite a bit of money after all expenses and payroll. The unarmed guard jobs were as you describe, but certainly not the PI working for me. In fact, 3 went on to start their own agencies and made a boat load of money as I did [ I charged 60 an hour and paid the boys 25.00 of that to start. Some were making 40 an hour and then overtime on top of that. In 1982 25.00 an hour meant just 40 hours a week they pulled 1K. The average wage in the US in 82 was 14,500 [ or 278.00 a week ]. That's not a low paying job people just walk away from.

The PI business is a professional business.

Getting bonded and carrying 5 million in liability insurance IS a profession that can lead to their own ticket eventually.

China and India are who you need to be speaking with. They may listen to you as your way of thinking is totalitarian socialism, not that different than theirs. How are you similar to them you may ask - government should exercise total control of business and ultimately the people....
By chance are you from Massachusetts?

I believe none of the bot-democrap taking point anti gun drivel you spew. Wholly false propaganda BS. While it might be entertaining to hear you justify ‘reasonable restrictions, universal background checks and ‘assault’ rifle bans’ I have no use for a communist shill regurgitating stuff found on leftist sites on the internet. Welcome to ignore.

Your not talking to a novice. Your cherry picking out a few that may have done what you said but I can bet the majority of the workers did not start their own business and I can bet they had no retirement except what they saved themselves and that probably they had no health insurance either or if they did it was no where near what they would have got from a gold star company employing hundreds or thousands.

In my State most security guards make little more than minimum wage and with no benefits or retirement. It was a dead end job that some took because of physical impairment because they could not perform a job with manual labor or they just did not want a manual labor job.

And in reference to your original security job when working for someone else if you had been making such great money you would not have got mad and walked off the job after asking for a raise either. Obviously you were not making enough money to live comfortably on or you would not have left so suddenly.

And the amount of money you quoted for your employees means little without comparing it to the cost of living in the state compared to the cost of living in other States. I have a brother who lives in California and on the surface his salary looks fantastic to people who live in the rust belt but when you take into consideration the cost of living in California his salary is not nearly a lucrative as it appears.

Again I was not born yesterday.

I never mentioned guns that is wild speculation on your part because like most people of your crowd you have no conception about who makes up the majority of gun owners in the U.S. Millions of gunowners who are Liberal own guns and millions more are Center Right Conservatives often called Rhino's. We have over 1,000 members in our shooting club and you would faint and fall off your chair if you knew their political voting record.

By the way I probably own more guns than you do after colleting them for over 60 years.

And by the way Government programs are Socialism, they serve the people and exist through taxation. Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Aid to Education programs, School Lunch Programs, Unemployment Insurance, Workers Compensation, Job retraining through the Federal or State Government programs to name only a few of hundreds of social programs. And as I mentioned before the Army Corps of Engineers is also a Government Social Program that has worked on water management programs for decades and decades.

I was pulling near 1K a week for the guy [ with the overtime ]. But after 5 years, I deserved a raise, I was making him lots of money, but he was a greedy boss. Paid well to start, but no raises, ever. I didn't get mad, I got even. I took a lot of business away from him with the attys that were his clients that knew MY reports and MY investigative skills are what they expected, didn't get my work after I left and moved to keep me on as their investigative agency.

As for the rest of the investigators, one went with NIS, two went to the feds [ one fbi one dea ], two became state troopers, and another like myself got own licenses. He was a stepping stone for a lot of us. We were smart, making him lots of money but no raises so many moved into other professions. The ones that stayed? He lost his business after 8 years and they were out of work looking for a new job after having been there for over a decade.

As for multi million dollar companies with thousands of employees, your idea of sharing the wealth over and above their pay scale and they deserve it? They can make the same choice I did, move on or suck it up. No employer is obligated to share his wealth [ net ] with employees nor is expected to.

Seems you'd fit right in with the socialists who want to take every billionaires money from them even as many of them are multi millionaires themselves. I fear for the country I grew up in. No one expected a boss to share his net wealth then, wouldn't have even thought in that direction. Today, people like you want every person of wealth to share what they have made through their own efforts, investments in time and money and being smart enough to rise to that level of worth.

Lets see, 1K a week in 77 and the average annual pay then was about 13K. I was worth more even as I was making a lot of money for the day and I made even more the minute I left his employ. That's not cherry picking, just facts in evidence,

I already made mention the guards came and went all the time, that wasn't a job that would lead to much over any time period. I eventually sold off that division of the company for a pretty big payday after building it into a 40-45 man division covering multiple properties all across the south shore of Boston. It took a lot of work to build the company, I wouldn't share my wealth with any of them, they were the recipients of my hard work to make it the company it was as employees and they got paid well

No I am not from Massachusetts and I never advocated the Government controlling businesses because that style of government died out with Joseph Stalin because it was a failed economic system. Even China now has for the most part gone full blown Capitalism and even cancelled some of its state medical coverage. Like many foreign countries including the Europeans their Governments do work closely with industry which is one of the reasons those countries got and built high speed rail systems so fast while we still do not have one.

Just think of the ability to board a high speed rail line and avoid auto traffic jams or an expensive air line and travel in an hour or two clear across your state our even across the country to shop for the best deals or visit relatives. High speed rail lines would boost our economy by billions as it has in foreign countries.

We agree on something and that is exactly what I was posting about, exactly.

What we do not agree on is that I was speaking of large corporations that make billions off the backs of the workers and the workers have every right to a piece of the economic pie otherwise it would be against Federal Law to form a Union and strike for safer working conditions, a livable wage, medical care and enough of a pension to retire in dignity . Did you know that before Social Security was passed 85% of retirees lived in poverty that is why even after Social Security was passed it was still not enough to retire on and that is why Unions were formed along with the other reasons mentioned.

When my grandfather died at age 30 his fellow workers had to pool their money so the family had just enough money to bury him. The despicable Company he worked for did not even send a condolence card. This is the way it was when workers were treated no better than animals by the companies that employed them. Blind greed ruled. Small wonder Unions were formed even at the cost of much blood and many lives.

Sounds like your grandfather was low hanging fruit, it happened a lot. OSHA was created specifically to deal with safety hazards in the workplace at some time to address that part of the issue.. I was never low hanging fruit from the time I mustered out of the Corps in 71.

My father lived paycheck to paycheck supporting the family. By the time I was out of the Corps, that wasn't ever going to be my fate and it never was. I busted my butt to get ahead of the paycheck to paycheck bs standard of living. I got where I was on nothing more than paying attention in school where the 3R's were concerned.

My grandfathers parents came over from Ireland during the famine and landed in Vt. as potato farmers. His dad died when he was 8 and the oldest so he had to quit school and work the farm to feed the brothers and sisters and mother. He ended up owning a heavy equipment company and became considerably wealthy by the time I was just a youngster. 3rd grade education, made it off the farm, built a business and retired to Fla. Something his siblings never achieved. Why him? He aspired to be more than he was and took steps to achieve that goal.

If you're born poor, have no skills, didn't pay attention in school, you're chances of getting out from under are very difficult. That's not some employers problem, that's that persons problem. Everyone has a choice, even if it's to move to another part of the country where employment opportunities are better, standard of living is better, pay's better.

Because some coal mine company abused their employees decades ago, that doesn't mean today they are expected to have to share their net wealth with workers.

I took my wife to visit Paris Island many years ago. I had been there in 74. I ask the PFC at the gate what the training was like in there now. He replied, Not as hard as when I went through, He couldn't have been in more than 6 months, LOL. The Old Corp was the day before you got there.

I spent 4 1/2 years in Iraq. I can relate too....
I have a friend that fought in Fallujah and he lost a lot of buddies. I don’t know where he was born and I don’t care. To borrow a quote from the Gunny in FMJ, “but he’s got guts, and guts is enough in my beloved Corps”.
