No, the only case colored frames on S&W revolvers are the recent remakes of older guns, the first being, I believe, a .38 Special Model 10 variant from the 2001 timeframe, and later guns.
Earlier S&W revolver frames were either blue steel, nickel or stainless steel in construction and finish.
Ah, well that definitely explains why I haven't seen earlier color case models. Thanks. I don't see a lot of nickel models, but occasionally some. My understanding is that S&W practices an actual case hardening rather than just an imitation color case like some other manufacturers do. I have heard the Ruger color case is not an actual case hardening, for example.
