I purchased a colt buntline special 45 with a 12" barrel and a new 6" barrel. Patent sept 19 1871. It also has July 2 72 and Jan 1975 on it. I bought it in 1984 and was wandering what it was worth? Wasn't sure if this is the right place to place this as the other said s/w revolvers.

If you have a price you're asking for it, then it goes here. If you're trying to find out what it's worth before you post it for sale, then you should post it in the Lounge. Kind of a catch all for everything else.

You need to give more info like most of the serial # with a few x`s for the last couple digits so we can figure when it was made, the shape it is in % wise, what type finish, did you buy it new, has the barrel been changed etc,. Colt didnt make a standard six inch barrel, they went 4 3/4", 5 1/2" and 7 1/2". Pictures would be a big help also you would probley get better info on the colt forum.

You could look on gunbroker.com. I saw one for $900 and another for $1500. The one for $900 had six days to sell.
